Man fatally mauled, dog killed, by pit bulls on dog walk

as a mother myself, she was most likely gone for longer than 5 minutes.

Pit bulls will keep killing.

If you have seen this video of two, well cared for, presumably well loved pit bulls who “think they are saving their owner” whom “they think is drowning”, you can very easily see how pit bulls are responsible for all these fatal maulings, hospitalizations, and killings of other dogs.

These dogs, and in particular the one, when faced with an unfamiliar situation that involves a lot of movement and commotion, responds by becoming hysterical and biting the first thing it can reach, and throwing absolutely everything it has at the situation. The ferocity, the tenacity, the willingness to bite, and the remarkable strength of these animals is breathtaking.

This owner thinks it’s charming, cute, and loyal, but, owner [mis]perception aside, this video shows exactly how people get mauled and killed by these dogs, over and over.

“gone 5 minutes”? Not believing that at all, and I bet she tries to get all three dogs back after quarantine.

There was a case in Tennessee years ago (I think Tennessee) where a woman’s little boy was ripped to shreds by her 3 dogs. She wanted them back, saying " I lost my little boy, and now they want to take my dogs". That case has haunted me for years.

It’s sad that so many people want children, and idiots like these two don’t take care of their children.

When a breed that is supposed to be dog aggressive, not human aggressive attacks a person, then it should be put down.

More idiots like you mentioned above @JanM

Horrific.

Quite possibly and most likely…but it is was the mother claimed.

With a dog with that amount of biting pressure the mum didn’t need to be gone for any amount of time for a fatal bite to be inflicted on such a young baby. The mother could have been right beside the baby and the same thing would have happened if the pit bull had decided to attack and bite.

There was also a severe attack by two pits on a post officer delivery person, in the same town, the week before.

Google “pit bull attack kalamazoo mi” and you come up with 4 different pit bull attacks in the general area of Kalamazoo since 10 April. Looks like charges were filed in 2 cases. In one case a 2 yro was severely mauled by a stray pit her uncle had.

Amazing that the mother in Michigan would leave her infant alone in the house with 3 pit bulls. Dead infant. The mother is at fault.

The neighbors thought the dogs were dangerous; the woman should face charges. Yeah, she feels bad her daughter is dead, but she’s dead because her mother (and father) chose to keep 3 aggressive dogs. She chose to drink the Kool-Aid, her child did not. Feeling bad is not really what I would consider a sufficient punishment. If the child died in a less violent manner, the police would probably be pressing charges.

The woman ignored prior aggressive behavior, and her little girl died because of that. Sounds like charges should be filed against the woman.

Don’t Google Kalamazoo and dog attacks unless you have a strong stomach, they were horrific.

The worst is the case of the woman who was mauled trying to protect her two grandchildren from a stray someone else took in, and let out of the garage. The doctors are fighting to save the baby girl’s face and eyesight. Both children, and the grandmother are still hospitalized with sever injuries.

Amazing the attacking animals, of whatever breed, are always said to be harmless, never did anything before, and the owners can’t believe their snookums did this.

I think the infant who died is the luckiest child of the bunch. She won’t have the pain of growing up disfigured and wondering why other kids laugh, point, or are scared of her.

The other little girl, who will have no hair, a disfigured face and is now partially blind, is the worst case. I think she’s 2. The worst of it is that her family has a pit bull. One article had her father giving details for a Gofundme page and then revealing that he had no intention of getting rid of the family pit bull. Both of their children will most likely come out of the hospital terrified of dogs, and rightfully so. I wonder if they will put the welfare of their kids above the dog at some point.

…and another. This one had a history of human aggression. I’m not sure if that information was relayed to the adoptive family.

History of Killer Rescue Dog

On Wednesday, the Patterson family adopted a male pit bull from FHRC, named Blue, for $20 after responding to a Craigslist advertisement. Previously, Blue had been a death row dog. Last December, Pennsylvania-based Animals Can’t Talk Rescue (ACT) “pulled” Blue from New York City Animal Care and Control. The dog was on death row for biting people. A fundraiser states Blue, who needed “socialization and impulse control,” would be sent to FHRC if funds were raised.
Manhattan Center
My name is BLUE. My Animal ID # is A1098430. I am a male white and brown pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR. I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 12/02/2016 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was BITEPEOPLE.
In addition to Blue needing “socialization and impulse control” training, the fundraiser by ACT states Blue “has been through a lot. His behavior – too – was cause for concern. He seems to react badly to loud noises and sudden movements.” The fundraiser attempted to raise $10,000 in order for Blue and Lexie, another dog pulled from death row in New York City, to be trained and housed by FHRC. In this online effort, they fell dismally short, raising only $10 after 71 shares.2

I read this earlier today and it made complete sense -

Thing is about these dogs, they are terriers. Very large terriers with terrier mentalities and massive jaws. Terriers in general are aggressive, love to chase what moves and are territorial. Put a big a** head with a massive jaw on the end of one and it can be a lethal combo. Of course there are plenty who wouldn’t harm a fly, but when are people going to learn these dogs are NOT dogs that the average owner should have access to?

It’s bad enough when bad/irresponsible owners adopt/buy a killing machine, How does a supposedly responsible and professional dog adoption agency place a pit bull with known bad behaviour into a home with a 90 year old woman? How does anyone in their right mind believe a 90 year old woman has both the ability to think clearly/quickly in a dangerous situation or have the physical ability to control/maintain a large dog…let alone a pit bull?

I’m sure there was some sort of a signed waiver of responsibility for the rescue/adoption agency but in the end it was their responsibility to choose the right owners and home for a dog with a known history of aggression. I also wonder why the dog had a shock collar on and who with any common sense whatsoever would put a shock collar on an aggressive dog?

I feel bad that the grandmother went through such a scary and painful incident and then passed away, I also feel bad the family involved lost a loved one…but this is just a case of absolute stupidity on both sides. Are pit bull advocates/rescues so gung ho to save and place these killer dogs that they don’t care where they get placed? That dog should not have been a candidate for re-training let alone adoption.

This is why an across the board pit bull ban is needed everywhere…many people are just too irresponsible, inexperienced and downright stupid.

CT-From watching Pit Bulls & Parolees, yes PB lovers are that blind. I only saw one animal that the rescue woman said should be out of the home, and the owner refused. That dog was in a home with several pre-teens, was human aggressive at the rescue center, and was proven dangerous. I (I no longer watch that show) saw two cases, one in California, and one a Tennessee animal, where animals were ‘rescued from death row’, and sent to the Villalobos center.

The whining by the rescue owner about the restrictions on the animals, and the statements about the harmless animals were ridiculous. I read other news reports on both animals, and a lot of bad information was left out of the stories shown on TV, about past history of human, and animal aggression by both animals.

On the Animal Cops: Miami show, a Rottweiler attacked a staff member twice (in my view the staff member was an idiot who almost guaranteed another bite from his actions), and the animal was supposed to be sent for more training, and then adopted out.

It’s not just PB advocates, but many delusional animal advocates who are under pressure by outside ‘experts’ that think every dog can be retrained, and adopted out. It’s ridiculous, and I hope this so-called rescue that adopted out the PB in the story above should lead to a law suit by the adopters. However, since the dog was advertised with a bite history in NY, and then listed as friendly by the FHRC, the rescue should be criminally prosecuted, in my opinion.

JanM-I agree the rescue should be criminally charged and prosecuted, but how much you want to bet that there was some fine print on the adoption papers relieving them of any responsibility?

I also agree that it’s not just the pit bull advocates that think every dog can be rescued and retrained. I know you agree with me when I say…the pit bull is in the majority of cases, the only dog that can and is known to viciously attack and kill people.

I’m sorry to hear that your opinion of the “other” (non-coyote) members of this forum is that we are canines and thus no different from the “coyote” members…

I object strenuously.

I don’t recall the context from which you took that quote but you seriously misunderstood it nonetheless. I would assume my point was that many members of this forum have dogs that react with aggression toward Coyote. Coyote are canines. Other dogs are canines. Same dogs may react similarly to other dogs. This has nothing to do with aggression toward people. If you are in fact a canine of some sort then I apologize for assuming you failed to understand what I was saying.

I was joking.

LMAO!

You can’t pull off dry humor on the internet like that @skydy ! Especially around here lol.
