Managing Cushings in a young mini

Yes, thanks so much, Desert.
Getting lost in this site (COTH forum much easier to search around in), but looks worth persisting!

It’s the time of year to be concerned about grass intake, but I wanted to add, because of the first post, that my first horse with laminitis from cushings, developed it after the first frost in November. I thought he had abcessed but turned out to be fairly mild laminitis.
Since then I have been reading that frost on grass increases the sugars and try to keep my minis off of it until later in the day. Luckily I live where it is mostly just wet, which is a good condition for lower sugars in the grass.
Also agree with the low NSC hay so you don’t end up soaking. I bought it for a boarded horse that I no longer have and so now have a good supply of this hay for my 2 miniatures even though then aren’t IR at this time!
