Manure disposal

Some states require that livestock farms have “manure management plans” filed with the state.

Start checking around to see if theirs are in compliance.

You not only have to deal with local zoning laws, there are also state and Federal regs that impact the application of manure on fields.

OP, I will caution you, if you go through the state/federal route make sure the manure from your cattle is in compliance as well.

And if your property is sandwiched between cattle and horses, how do you know the flies are from the horses?

I understand it is a pain and I haven’t caused a bit of trouble with them over it. I honestly probably won’t because I don’t want to be in a feud with neighbors that I will likely have for a long time. I may be overreacting and honestly, that is one of the reasons I made this post. I live in a rural area and know a lot of people with horses. Nobody else that I know spreads their shavings in a single path near a house. Years ago, these same people used to spread it in a large field very thin and it was barely even noticed.

OP I understand. I would ask your neighbors if they would mind the fly predators, they really do work. I thought my Mom was nuts 20 years ago when she order them.

Appreciate the info. I will order some and give it a try.
