PTO. In the winter we spread directly on the fields. In the summer we stockpile- back the spreader up to the pile and unload- can’t do that with ground driven.
I think I am going to go with PTO… although hooking up the PTO can be a pain, I only plan on spreading a few times/year in spring and fall.
I also like that I can spread more/drive less, in case I want to spread when the fields are a bit damp and I don’t want to do so many passes.
Mucking directly in a ground drive we can take down the barn aisle seems like a great idea, but I just don’t think there are enough days a year here with weather condusive to spreading to make that worthwhile.
