Manure spreaders

Good point. I pick leftover hay out of stalls before putting stall waste in my spreader. The NS doesn’t handle hay well. It is definitely a light duty spreader, but it does work very well in light duty situations. As far as fixing the spreader goes, all parts are available from NS and they have great customer service.

I have a small Newer spreader I pull with either a Gator or my Zero turn mower. I like that it is just the width of stall doors and is very manouverable in the aisle by hand even if full. I use sawdust/shavings, and yes a lump of hay would clog it, but it just rotates around until its all that is left - and I scoop it out. I do not think it would work well if you use straw bedding. I cannot imagine how one broke with hay inside, unless it was a huge lump of hay and whoever was pulling it just didnt pay any attention.
