Well, I was totally surprised when my vet came back out and said the IFAT was totally negative. He’s never even been exposed to the EPM buggers. I was even more surprised when she said his blood work came back anemic and we are now very seriously considering EPSM as the culprit here. Apparently many EPSM horses have low-level anemia that clears up when put on the correct EPSM diet. My horse also started all these symptoms when I moved him to a new facility. I used to feed him a diet very close to EPSM recommendations. Now he gets almost no fat in his diet, coincidence? All the symptoms fit so I’m starting the diet and I guess we’ll see! I hope Dino is doing well, I’ve been thinking of him.
According to the company Marquis reaches peak saturation in the serum 18 days +/- 5.9 days. it reaches peak concentration in the CSF is 15 days +/- 7.9 days.
I have found my horse to willingly eat it mixed in his Hight fat feed soaked. fat present to help with absorption (according to company) and it protects the mouth and throat from irritation of the paste.
wanted to share this since it has helped make administering it very easy, and Trouble is compliant.
