I ordered them today too…we shall see!
I got them as a birthday present from a SO ages ago. Love them. I have the ones with the flexible foot bed.
My old trainer had the jointed ones on a saddle she loaned me. Oh lawd were they great. I have knee and ankle issues from past injuries and these stirrups really felt good. I want a pair so bad but for now my stubben offsets will have to do!
I have the non-jointed, wide based ones and absolutely love them
I got my MDC ultimate stirrups and rode in them at the 45 degree position yesterday. Wow! Wonderful! I did have to shorten my stirrups a hole because they are quite a bit taller than my Sprengers and I do wish they were lighter BUT I must say I never noticed my stirrup leathers until I really couldn’t feel them against my leg. I won’t be jumping in them until January in Ocala but they seem cool. I’m going to try the 90 degree position today. Only other comment is they do tend to slide down when you run up your stirrups if you leave them in the 45 position.
I didnt like them at all, sent them back.

I didnt like them at all, sent them back.[/QUOTE]I didn’t like mine either, but by the time I’d reached that conclusion, it was too late to send them back. At least I know I’m not alone.
The sport classics were life changing for me. I had extreme pain in my ankle to the point that I wasn’t sure if I would be able to ride anymore. I have zero pain in my ankle because of these stirrups.
What didn’t you guys like about them Peggy and mroades? What stirrups are you comparing them to? Did you both try the ultimates?
I hated the ultimates (found out I detest flexible stirrups) but I love the classic. I wrapped the comfort wrap stirrup pad around it and my ankles/knees feel great (even out hunting for several hours). I’ve found that I rarely need to click them out anymore, but love having that feature especially for cross country.

I always felt like I was fighting with them despite changing the swivel thing to various configurations. Then one day the mounting block tipped over as I was getting on and the foot in the stirrup got stuck and I was hopping across the ring on one foot while the horse backed up for a terrifying moment or two. Although that probably could have happened with other stirrups it soured me on them and I wrnt back to my eq-illegal Flexible Royal Riders.
I have been riding in the MDC Classic stirrups for years. I love mine. I used to get sores on the inside of my thighs from stirrup leathers (either because my leathers had worn out and/or my half chaps had worn out). The 45 degree rotating top really helps the stirrup leathers lay flat, they do not pinch or wear out as much now. I did have HS flex stirrups (and the MDC flex stirrups) but years ago at a clinic, the clinician had me ride in his saddle to feel the difference in my base using normal irons and ones that flexed. The non-flex stirrups don’t hold your base of support as much as ‘normal’ irons (especially since my old horse jumped like a dolphin and was hard to stay with). I put the ‘cheese grater’ stirrup pads, those make a huuuge difference on any stirrup. I think the flex stirrups are great for people who have knee or ankle pain though.
Well the results are in… I’M IN LOVE!!! They have completely eliminated my foot pain, and they have awesome grip. Never going back to anything else!!

Great! I LOVE mine! Although I only have the ones that twist at the top so your leather doesn’t twist.
Which ones did you get?
I don’t know anyone with these but they interest me because I am prone to stirrup leather rubs. Would they be frowned upon in EQ? The Sport Classic is what I am looking at… Not as much a fan of the jointed.
I got the Hunter Classics. I am not a fan of jointed stirrups and wanted a classic look since I show hunters and eq.

No they are not frowned in the eq. I have the comfort stirrups and replaced the stirrup pad with cheese grater pads (I think it was before the option of the sport classic like stirrups). I used to show in the eq and medals too. You see a lot more of these stirrup here in CA because that’s where they were developed and started.
I have the MDC Sport Classic Stirrups and love them! I’ve shown in Equitation with them, and placed just fine. Here’s my review: http://flyonovereq.com/product-review-mdc-sport-classic-stirrup/
Thank you for letting me hijack for a moment!
