Merritt cowboy missing

Our thoughts are with the family of missing ranch manager from Merritt not seen for five days. I just can’t stop thinking of this young man. He is from Wyoming and been up in Merritt BC for three months. He had is own horse, and it was found fully saddled by loggers with no rider in sight. It is so darned cold up there…even though he is a seasoned outdoorsman nobody knows in what direction he went, possibly searching for missing cattle.

Ben Tyner is 32, 6’3" tall and lives the cowboy life, always has only wanted to do that. His family is up there, first Nations, Search and Rescue, locals, dogs, trackers, all searching…

I know the ranch a little bit. The terrain can be very challenging but, OTOH, the working ranch horse is very capable of handling much more than we throw at our horses. He apparently had a drone with him…

“We are coming for you Brother” said his brother.

I hope they find him and he is okay. Jingling…

He has a Facebook page - leads an interesting, footloose life.

Praying for a miracle… for what it’s worth… (wish all my prayers were answered) please let us know when he is found.

I keep Googling - nothing - but a massive effort.

Prayers sent

Getting down to below -20 degrees Celsius tonight … thoughts and prayers.

I haven’t been following it but had heard about this when it hit the news.

Tons of jingles!

P.

Sending my best hopes and wishes, for him and his people.

Wow hope they find him. Jingles jingles jingles.

Sadly the weather is not conductive to being lost up there.

Glad they found the horse.

More jingles for him.

I hope they find him.

Nothing on Google today - plans are to continue through the w/e searching. It is such a complicated place. There is lots of jackpine forest, with fallen logs, branches, etc., where cattle may go for shelter. Very steep in spots…I got to the bottom of my TB when riding up there once…never did that before in my life.

Nicola Ranch is an old heritage ranch with lots of history …changed owners a few years ago…lost touch.

Some of the articles (and comments I’ve seen on other articles) suggest that the locals seem to think there’s some foul play involved. Particularly that the horse had been trailered by an unknown third party to the location where it was found, although nothing I’ve seen explains WHY they think that happened.

I would wonder what other directions the investigation is taking, in addition to the search.

Very much hoping this man is found alive and well, whatever his circumstances.

It sure is a mystery - but I am reluctant to engage in conspiracy theories without facts because - you know - they have to print something…so much is missing in the story. We have to be content knowing that there is a huge effort being made from experienced people from all over the province and island. I phoned my friend who worked up on the ranch and they said the same - that as much as possible was being done. One of their cowboys trained my rottenest horse to stand while being shod - then he took her out on the trails, warmed her bottom when she needed it and gave me back a very good horse.!

Still no news - wickedly cold last night - family has set up a Go Fund Me page to continue the search as long as possible.

Going into day seven they have suspended the search. Weather -24 degrees C, windy and very difficult conditions.
No further ahead with answering the questions arising. Wish there was better news. Not good.

Thanks for posting the update even though it’s not good. I’ve been Googling but haven’t found anything current.

As you said, not good.

Still jingling.

Been following this search on other SM and also I’m saddened the “official” search by LE is suspended. I’ve heard
some reports that the family may continue the search in some limited form.

I worry that there was foul play involved and still hope for his rescue.
