#metoo and Jimmy Williams

I don’t doubt a male version will surface but with safe sport in place, why not just report it? What good does it do to allude on a forum and say someone else needs to do x,y and z. That was my issue. The I know something but someone else needs to do something about it.

Safe Sport requires that someone has the intestinal fortitude to take action and/or make a report. The FRC debacle shows how challenging it is to acknowledge despicable actions by someone considered a pillar of the sport. The victims were both lauded and shamed, and a number of JW contemporaries put up at least a half-hearted defense of his actions.

As I said, I have no personal knowledge of this, but the same allegations are coming up on these forums and in the comments on the NYT article Facebook links.

Would anyone be so kind as to message me the name of the accused eventing trainer. Very curious

According to safe sports web site one can report anonymously.

A reminder of our posting policies, available at the top of each page for reference. We’ve removed some references to some self-deleted posts that were evidently in violation:

UPDATE TO FORUM RULES: CRIMINAL ALLEGATIONS

In our continuing effort to provide an avenue for individuals to voice their opinions and experiences, we have recently reviewed and updated our forum policies. Generally, we have allowed users to share their positive or negative experiences with or opinions of companies, products, trainers, etc. within the industry, and that is not changing.

When it came to overt criminal allegations, however, those discussions have in the past needed to stem from a report by a reputable news source or action by law enforcement or the legal system.

We are now expanding our policies to allow posters to share their own first-hand experiences involving overt criminal allegations, such as animal abuse or neglect, theft, etc., but only if they publicly provide their full first and last name along with the post. We still will not allow anonymous postings alleging criminal activity.

So, a user may now make a specific claim against a named individual or company, but it must be a FIRST-HAND account, and they have to IDENTIFY THEMSELVES. Users have always been legally responsible for their posts, and nothing has changed there, but we want to loosen the reins a bit and further allow the free flow of discussion and information relevant to the horse community.

We are not providing a free-for-all of anonymous rumor-mongering. As enduring advocates for the welfare of the horse, we want to provide a forum for those willing to sign their name and shine a light on issues of concern to them in the industry.

The full revised rules are posted at the top of each forum for reference.

Yeah people said the same about Harvey Weinstein, and it went on for years. Are you journalists or horse groupies. I’ve heard stories for years from credible individuals. Why don’t you act like a true journalist and investigate. I guarantee you won’t have to dig too deep.

Okay really now. If you know so much, stop insulting those who are not in the know and file a report with safe sport. Stop making it someone else’s responsibility. Weinstein was able to go for years because people who knew something didn’t speak up. Kinda like what you are doing now.

As I said these stories are pervasive, journalists jobs are to expose wrongs. Like I said do your job, and if you don’t want to know the truth you are complicit,

At LAEC there is a trainer who is notorious for telling moms that if they sleep with him, their kid will ride for free. He is an abusive bully who clearly has a thing for young girls.

Also at FRC all of those board members, back in Jimmy Williams time and now - all hold equity stakes in that property. If they get sued or have a hint of scandal they all lose their investments.

It wasn’t and isn’t being handled correctly because every board member has an equity stake in the property and they don’t want to lose their million dollar investments. They are all waiting for the day the property is sold to JPL for their big pay out. As long as a Board is made up of self-dealing people (highly illegal by the way), it will never work properly. They deserve to be sued. FRC is a VERY unsafe & secretive environment for both rider and horse - even today with the board that is currently in place. I hope all the victims are talking and banding together to sue the place.

Then report him to the SafeSport folks.

Or have you done that already and you are also posting here?

Flintridge Riding Club has been incorporated as an non-profit (I think 501©(7)) since 1935. Generally, the law would require that on dissolution that the assets of a 501c7 are distributed back to the members. The value of Flintridge is clearly the raw real estate parcel which would be unaffected by any scandal involving Williams.

Not sure if that is correct because they are walking around telling people they don’t want to get sued and lose the property in a settlement. The board is riding a very fine legal line because they are not impartial and are protecting the money/value.

So have you reported this trainer to Safe Sport or not?

I do not know about 501 © (7), but I DO know that being a 501 © (3) doesn’t stop anyone from suing you.

Can you help me understand this because your syntax is unclear? Trainer offers to sleep with the moms (gross, but not necessarily illegal unless it approaches harassment) or trainer is trying to sleep with young girls, or both?

I’m sure they don’t want to lose the property in a settlement or in any other action, but it’s not about a personal loss to their personal finances, but a loss of the facility to the membership and the horse community as a whole. You suggested that the board members had a personal financial equity stake in the property and that’s just not true.

How is it unsafe for the horses ?
