It highlights the need for good owner/rider contracts.

There was a contract. Owners do have rights too. And are also vested in their Horses and put a lot into them as well. This sport isn’t cheap. More than having good contracts
it’s about having good relationships AND, while people don’t like to hear it
meeting mutual expectations. You have to all be on the same page. And not all owners want to keep footing the entire bill for another person forever. Contracts protect them too.

Did somebody say there was no contract, or comment on it’s contents?

You implied it in your comment. There was a contract and there is no dispute. The rider knew the owner was acting with in their rights. If you ride for a business and others own and support your horses
they will get sold and move on from time to time. It sounds like she understands this and is appreciative of the opportunities and experiences she gained.

I believe Boyd lent Steady Eddie to William Fox Pitt for the Wellington showcase a couple years ago.

Is Boyd injured? Saw a comment on FB that led to believe that.

While on the topic of rider changes and lending horses, has a European based rider ever lent a horse to an American to compete at a European 3*/4* or invitational event?? I dont recall any. I’d honestly rather see someone like MJ on a horse he made, or is in his program, come over and compete, rather than get on an American “made” horse as a borrowed mount, and literally beat us at our own game, on our own soil, on an American rider/team/ produced horse
I think that might be embarrassing. I do love that the Europeans and others come to the US to compete in our on events and we get the opportunity to sit front row and witness their brilliant riding, but I really would love to see some American riders winning at the top of the sport.

I wondered the same thing based on videos on Boyd’s blog of Phillip XC schooling some of Boyd’s horses

Seems like this is going well. They just won Strzegom 4*S wire-to-wire - FOD on a dressage score of 19.4

I know one country who must be pretty happy about the Olympics being postponed
