Michael/ Lauren civil trial update February 9

You’re right. The judge can do it on their own motion. Here’s NJ’s rule.

I think now is a great time to say thank you to @Knights_Mom, @ekat and @Maria for sharing all their legal expertise and experiences.

We know they all have more courtroom experience than a poster here who likes to claim they “know” things, but has repeatedly been proven wrong!

We certainly are blessed to have so many knowledgeable people willing to share their smarts with us in a way that is easy for us to understand!

Hey @ekat , I just have to brag….I’ve been able to get through the court site recently without having to pick the whatever nonsense….

Every so often courts want to improve their stats so they initiate obtaining final dispositions on cases filed.

By us it meant the computer mainframe searches out inactive cases filed at a certain period of time and then automatically places a certain disposition on those cases. Their stats then read better. Sometimes the need for stats to read better comes from funding (federal, state, etc) which has certain requirements for certain programs. Sometimes it comes from an initiative mandated by a Governor or chief judge for the state.

I agree 100%. As despicable as her behaviour may have been, and as much as she seems to be somewhat delusional and / or a pathological liar, the one part of her story I have no trouble believing is that she is still suffering considerable mental / emotional strain. Thankfully few of us will ever find out what it’s like being shot, but I imagine the PTSD lasts a lifetime.

The fact that she has suffered emotional distress is a no-brainer for me, as I’m sure it will be for a jury. The difficulty will lie in convincing the jury that any of the people / entities named in her suit are responsible for that distress.

I am certainly no expert on the law, but Thank you. My experience is limited to Administrative law. Where I work we follow the laws of Civil Procedure even though we are considered a Quasi Judicial Tribunal. So some things are the same. I am the Clerk of Court there, working title, Chief Hearings Clerk. ie: vacuumer.

What I would find more stressful than being a shooting victim, is maintaining the lie/ruse/grift.

This is the one thing I Adore here, there is so much intelligence and willingness to share. It truly warms the cold cold cockles of my heart.

Probably similar to car dealerships. Lol.

Yup. Our systems kept active track of how many days a case was open for and alerts were automatic to calendars to give them a heads up so dispositions or resolutions could be entered.

Why are all the threads about bat shit crazy horse people clustered on the Dressage page? Do the other disciplines get threads of these types? Is it saying something about Dressage people that we talke about the BS Crazies, or are the BS Crazies clustered in the Dressage orbits?

Yikes. How are they going to police who controls the algorithms? The possibility/probability for misuse is gargantuan.

Robot lawyers are a ridiculous concept because effective practice of law is often an emotional art.

Jury trials especially are dramatic theater.

If the glove don’t fit you must acquit.
