We all know the Kanareks will not weather the remainder of this saga well but they can’t allow themselves to lose.

SHE won’t allow them to lose. And as you said, they can’t control their major player, so they fall in behind her.

I can only imagine the meltdowns, rage postings, and other tirades that will occur if things don’t go 100% their way in the civil case.

Yeah, I also recall a FB post saying she had to send RG to Walmart of all places to get her some clothes that would fit - a sweat shirt and pants as I recall. Certainly no big deal but simply another indication at how her living conditions had suffered per her. Remember when she posted that the first time she went back to the farm after the incident, she saw blood still on the ground? That must have been some amazing blood Michael left to have still been there almost a month later! Remember, her clothing showed zero blood stains. Always embellishing

I am thinking that if MB is released into some kind of step-down program (or fully released), LK is going to be fit to be tied and her attorney is going to have a bit of a problem trying to get her through the deposition.

I am not sure about NJ, but in the states I’m familiar with, including FL, the defendant could even choose to make himself present in the deposition room and she has no grounds to object to exercising that right absent a protective order (which I believe they do have).

People are permitted to provoke reactions to some extent in depositions. The law is not nearly as restrictive in a deposition as in open court. Saying you have to delay a deposition because you’re upset about the disposition of the party you’re suing would not go very far.

ETA: just a note as to the filing of the lawsuit. It’s customary when someone has received an injury to file suit if you think you’re going to want to (unless you have absolutely zero grounds) so as to avoid running out of statute that would give you grounds to sue later. You can typically amend who you’re suing about what in the course of the action, so I would have been more surprised to see them NOT sue. Of all the things the various Kanareks have done, I would say this is the most normal.

I was pretty sure you had said you are on the younger rather than older side? I feel like I’m misremembering though, no one my age and under is unaware of Mean Girls or the references, and I’m in my 30s, so you have to either at least be older than that or incredibly out of touch with reality and the outside world. That’s practically like not knowing who Harry Potter is. And might explain why you are the way you are, actually, if you are a genuine person and not a troll.

Before the case was dismissed by a judge, it was amended not once but twice in order to correct typos and change the legal basis of the suit. So I don’t consider Christopher Deininger a “thorough and careful attorney”.

Saying you have to delay a deposition because you’re upset about the disposition of the party you’re suing would not go very far.

I would not be hugely surprised if she claims a sudden medical/health care issue as a “last gasp” effort to delay the deposition. “Oh, I can’t possibly do that deposition right now. I have Covid and am coughing my lungs up.” Or “I am having a serious flare-up of UC (caused by the trauma to my body due to MB shooting me)”. Or “I sprained my ankle at the barn yesterday and cannot put any weight on it all. I will work with my attorney to determine another possible date but it probably won’t be for several weeks or months.”

Is there a protective order in place currently for Barisone? It’s been mentioned on these threads that MHG has protective orders in place, but I haven’t heard anything about anyone else. Just curious.

“The Jury went so far as to reject completely the charge that Mr. Barisone committed attempted murder against Robert Goodwin. With respect to the charge of attempted murder of Lauren Kanarek, the jury found Mr. Barisone’s claim that he was stalked, harassed and threatened to the point that he was not criminally responsible for his actions.”

In case anyone was wondering about the finding. This should be VERY interesting to the Civil jury dontcha think? Gee I wonder how this will affect any $$$ award LK might hope to get? And I’m not talking about this ad, I’m talking about this FINDING. This is just a recap of the FINDING. Odds are the new jury, with even more information submitted into evidence will find likewise.

I guess CH was not correct in their assessment there was no finding that LK caused his breakdown.

Yeah, other than that 1st jailhouse attorney Michael had for a few brief minutes, he’s had nothing but the best representation by far, and quite obviously has confidence in their abilities.

Sure can’t say the same for the Kanareks. Bless their hearts.

Those who are attorneys, please indulge me for a minute. If prospective clients come to you who have ignored subpoenas for months and don’t seem to be inclined to respond to the subpoenas, would you take them on as clients?
