I was actually thinking about the mental gymnastics required to jump from serious discussion of conditions within mental health facilities, the lack of justice in our justice system and the evil cruelty of certain people to talk of cookies, hamsters and guinea pigs.

Definitely not comparing the prose of Joyce to the repetitive ramblings of the K Klan acolytes. Sorry I didn’t express my thought more clearly.

ETA: They unfortunately didn’t show a little bit more of the scene. At the end of the above, Niles asks Frasier something like “What was that all about, with the rats?” Frasier replies “Don’t ask me. You’re the one who’s marrying her.”

I think Niles just about the funniest character on that show. He was so wrapped up in yet oblivious to, his own pathologies, and two as brothers were beyond funny, and so believable as brothers. You could imagine the whole family dynamic. Just funny stuff.

A long time ago I did a screen writing course with one of the shows writers as teacher and had to write an episode of Frasier for the class. It was a hoot!

Murdaugh played the role of nice guy to lure his wife there and lull her into feeling safe with him. Paul was no choir boy and SHOULD have been facing huge consequences for boating drunk and the death of Miss Beach, but that would have laid waste to his father’s finances and drawn notice to how he obtained it.

Not a very bright man, despite his law degree.

Do you know if there’s a COTH thread on that case, would love to read it. I’m out of the USA, so it was only a case I came to more recently than a lot of you, though I’m enjoying Mandy’s podcasts.

No, there isn’t. I got hooked on her podcasts and the topic pops up now and again in the Barisone threads. Want me to start a thread in Off Topic? I’m behind in my listening and started to catch up last night and then life intervened and the next thing I know, I’m “purring” softly on the sofa, the fire is flickering softly, someone had tossed a blanket on me and there is a dog at my feet. How did that happen?

Dang. The secret is out. Forty-seven years of enjoying Beignets in NOLA and the best have always been the Cafe Du Monde. And yes, they have the little food truck style outlet in City Park. Just as yummy and usually no line.
I have another trick to avoid the line on Decatur, but you have to PM me for it.

That is my favorite comedy show ever. I usually don’t care for half hour comedies, but that was incredibly well-written and acted, at least for the first few seasons. Didn’t care for Daphne’s family in the later seasons, though.

Hasn’t there been talk of a reboot lately? Or did it already happen? I can’t even keep track anymore of all the old shows that have been updated or rebooted or spun off. It’s kind of crazy.
