There is an amazing donut shop in Hamilton called Donut Monster. https://www.donutmonster.ca/
I stayed near there when some emergency work was being done on my home. It was during the height of Covid restrictions and they served from a walk by window. I walked my dog by there every day at lunch time and there was always a line up so I thought they also served sandwiches. One day I had to go somewhere after lunch so I brought some money to treat myself to a sandwich and donut. It was late June and quite hot out.
Bella (dog) and I got to the window. The only sandwich they served was a fresh cinnamon donut, sliced with a slab of ice cream for a filling. OMG Heaven.

I had Tim Horton’s coffee once that made me gag. Old and burnt style. Worst that gas station coffee. Never was tempted again.

It’s OK. It’s not like you dared to put down DD coffee.

You aren’t wrong. In fact that’s Canada’s best-kept secret.

Owning an ice cream shop will qualify one to HATE sprinkles…

You are all a bunch of sprinkle haters!
I embrace all forms of doughnuts except those with jelly in them.
(I also don’t like weird doughnuts like maple and bacon-yuck)

I’m on @3PonyFarm’s team. I hate the fake jelly goo.

Tim Horton’s coffee is awful, and I can’t believe they’re opening stores in the UK like mad, 70+ now. I’m always puzzled when I see folks drinking it when there’s so many other options that taste like actual coffee. :coffee: Their donut holes are okay though!

“Fairy bread” was THE special treat when I was growing up - white bread, cheap margarine and sprinkles (“hundreds and thousands” or nonpareils) - it was served at every single kids birthday party ever.

Can confirm this is still going strong (but with good butter, not cheap margarine).

Another sprinkle-averse, here.

I think they’re a waste of calories, messy, and simply don’t find them aesthetically pleasing or good to eat.

We have several food truck donut makers around here. One does old fashioned, fried apple cider donuts, and the other does fried raised donuts with a variety of toppings. Both are heavenly.

My Mother used to give us white bread with butter and sugar as a treat. Yes, we grew up in the '60’s. My mother was dedicated to the proposition that all things advertised were part of the new suburban family she was supposed to raise.

I will have nightmares about this fairy bread!

Donut Monster is good but the BEST donuts in Hamilton is Granddad’s Donuts. I used to work for the co-founder of Tim Hortons (years after he sold the company) and he always bought donuts from Granddads.

Are red hots still a thing? I remember them being used as a type of sprinkle. There were some that were so hot they would blister your lips and sides of mouth. They were great!

This is something I was thinking about this weekend. I know there has been speculation about Jonathan Kanarek and Judge Taylor being chummy but what if it’s something darker than that??? What if the K’s have something dirty on him? And are using that over him to manipulate? Just a thought…

If you think the fairy bread is bad, wait until you hear about “frog in a pond”.

I’m afraid to ask!!

That is an interesting thought.
It would like be yet another reason why Jonathan Kanarek @Inigo-montoya feels it is OK for him to just ignore his subpoenas and totally not cooperate.
That might also explain why Jonathan Kanarek felt it was OK for him to send a private note to the previous judge in the civil case.
