Milled Peas supplement

I lost my good horse around that time also and still have a gap, totally understand that! What a great name for her too! Many happy miles!

sudden thought - if you have a business locally that caters to homesteaders and preppers they may have bulk peas

Peas are a key ingredient in Renew Gold, which I like, and which my horse liked… until they added the peas. So it may suit you well.

Several years ago there was a bagged horse feed that contained peas but I can’t find the name of it. Maybe it doesn’t exist anymore. If I had my pony at home I’d try to do a whole foods diet for him. Makes sense to me.

A restaurant supply store should be able to provide peas in bulk.

 She’s a beauty.

If grocery store split peas will sub (mentioned in your original post) & you want to transition to something readily available where you are, grocery seems like a not too pricy idea.
Since she only gets a half cup, the 16oz bag should last you ~3 daily feeds & they’re pretty cheap. Averaging between $1-$2 here.
Seems like a cost comparable to whatever replaces the peas.

My horse & pony get whole oats & sunflower seed as their only grain, no supplements.
About 1 cup 2X daily for the pony, 2 for the horse.
Mini - my #3 - was on the same diet the 1st 3yrs I had him (just under 2yo when I bought him), then had a very mild laminitic episode, so he’s now on TC Sr, along with the sunflower. Just turned 9.
Hay for all is 1st cut orchard grass.
All 3 are in good weight & have coats so shiny I get compliments from vet & farrier. No thanks to my (lack of) grooming :sunglasses:
