MIPS Equestrian helmet ratings; http://mipsprotection.com/equestrian_helmet_test/
The two PS models of the CO MIPS helmets on the SmartPak web site show as available in 6 weeks - which seems to indicate they haven’t quite made it to the US just yet. The higher end one ($450 range) is available in one business day.
Guilherme’s point wrt to helmet cost relative to a co-pay for an ER visit is a good one; however, most kids (or adults) just starting out in lessons are not going to pay an additional $200 to get a helmet with MIPS technology when they can get an Ovation or Troxel for $50. If MIPS really is the safety enhancement it seems to be, the “lower end” brands need to get on the stick and get some product offerings to the market.
FYI - for those interested, TraumaVoid is closing out their EQ3 line in brown - they are on sale while supplies last.
I agree. Why going for questionable solutions when there’s already one designed for your needs. All you need is just finding a suitable one. Someone mentioned above that motorcycle helmets have ear protection, but this does not apply to all such helmets. Here check this for comparison, they all are fine for moto riding but that’s gonna be overkill for horse riding. Your theory is good though.
