Mitt Romney and the dog on the roof

Seriously.

I don’t care much for the man.
But gosh, give it a rest.

And do check the size of the cars back then. There were not a lot of cars on the market that accommodated 7 people. Who is to say that the luggage was not on the roof as well. or parts of it.

But I would certainly like to know where the story came from.
I am pretty sure I would not remember having seen a guy at a gas station 30 years ago. Let alone remembering the face enough to put it in a paper 3 decades later.
hey, wait a minute, this guy could run for president in the next century…lets remember?

oye.

No, I don’t think it’s cool to have the dog on the car roof.
But I don’t think it’s cool trailering horses with their heads hanging out the side of the trailer either. Fly masks do not protect against debris…would I be able to remember the culprit in 20 years (since it’s been about ten since I saw that gem) not on your life!

The story I heard was that there were 7 people in the car and they wanted to take the dog along on the vacation rather than leaving him behind. They secured his carrier on top of the car and made a windshield to block the wind from the front. Since the dog sustained no harm, I’m not concerned about it without some detail that tells me the dog was distressed by it. I would assume that he was not. Many dogs ride in the back of pickup trucks (not safe unless the dog is secured), with theif heads out the windows, and various places like that.
It’s just sometime to try to damage him politically. There are serious issues facing this country and the liberal press (those mentioned in this thread are all liberal) chooses to cover how Mitt Romeny transported the family pet dog on the family vacation almost 30 years ago rather than looking at the destruction of the separation of powers that is the foundation of our system of government. Clearly, the dog was not harmed in any way, or that would be part of the story.

BTW, how it can be argued that loading up the kids and family dog into the station wagon for a family vacation by road trip is out of touch with the average American family is just beyond my comprehension. Perhaps, to be considered in touch, the family should take three separate jets to their vacation with the dog they bought for photo ops.
How dare you post this common sense Jargon???:lol::lol:
Sorry, this wouldn’t keep me from voting for a Presidential candidate. They must be having a hard time digging up any real dirt on the man.

It’s actually funny that people drag that up, yet many of those people probably voted for the person who is good buddies with a guy who sent a NAIL BOMB to a NYC police station, then said many years later in an interview he wished he’d done more.
Ding, ding ding…we have a winner.

I know, right.

I am sure the man has bigger skeletons in the closet.

I guess some of you missed Off Topic Day for other “real dirt on the man” This is a thread on a forum titled The Menagerie" just a FYI.

As this thread has more to do with politics than critters, we’re closing it.

Thanks!
