Finally - the Irish rider is just that, a rider. Well done but flat to the last fence with a rail down.
BBC: “the horses are the real stars here!”

This ought to be funny.
See, I told you.
Good god that flip by the Korean was ugly.
Horse is a saint.
Someone who rides worse than the American.

Not funny. At all. Poor guy, I feel bad that he had the misfortune to get a difficult horse. Very impressive he stayed on for that first rear, I would have been off!
He caused the problems hanging on the horse’s face and pulling him over on top of him. This was not a horse problem. It was a rider problem.
How the heck did that guy crawl back in the saddle???
The Korean pulled that horse over with his vise-like death grip on the reins. Scary as crap.
I like this bay horse Wonder Boy, with the Ukrainian, who was all “hell no” as he almost dumped him in order to get him off his face.
Don’t you know there are some little girls somewhere screaming at the rider to get out of his face and stop spurring him like that.
They should all be sporting neck straps and be penalized for every fence they don’t use them.

That’s an extraordinarily generous interpretation of what happened.
I had really hoped (as an ex-pentathlete) the standard would be better than the last Olympics. The horses may be better, the riding sadly not.
Thank you Samuel Weale of GB for restoring my faith on the nice honest little chestnut.
I like the ones who pat their horses when they are done cuz they know the horse saved their butts!
Holy crap, a 1.20m course with a bunch of beginners? And per these comments… I’m not even sure I want to watch the replay. Why isn’t this a .9m course… that would make more sense…
I wonder if they could replace the riding phase with bowling? Very similar sport and you avoid the luck of the draw and the whole live animal thing.

Or better still, why don’t they just LEARN TO RIDE!!
They obviously learn to do the other four sports that are part of the pentathlon.
It’s crazy there is not some kind of minimum standard. There is in all of the other equestrian disciplines.
Oh MY, Trinidad the bay roan is a wonderful horse. He’s awesome!
Yeah. I want that little roan-y boy with his Roman nose. He jumps from anywhere!
