There are a bunch of “Brokers”, who buy horses at the track, and immediately run them through sales like Mel Hoover’s, in New Holland, PA, and the Friday night New Holland sales. The same thing befalls many American Saddlebreds. 
I really appreciate how proactive the TB community is trying to be. They are a great model for the breeds that aren’t doing anything to follow.

The TB community isn’t just trying to be proactive, they are succeeding. As I mentioned earlier, (possibly in another thread) TAA, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance has collected and dispersed $24,000,000 since 2012 to aid in the care and rehoming of TBs coming off the track. That’s pretty impressive to me.
