Morgan/Warmblood Crosses
I’ve seen some lovely TBxMorgan horses and I’d love to own one someday. That would be ideal for me as a foxhunter/eventer, I think. Ideally the cross would maintain the morgan toughness and gain a bit more length of stride. At least for the Morgans I’ve met, stamina has not been a problem, but my little guy is often taking several strides to the TBs one stride out hunting.
Ditto. I think the cardiovascular stamina element comes in with the Morgans, for reasons you’ve described. Also, the hair. In my experience, they don’t suck back or give up when they’re getting worn out, but they do seem to get hot and sweaty.

Yes, so true! In fact that is the only thing I worry about with my little Morgan - that he may be hotter and more tired than he will let on. As a breed they seem to have a tendency to just keep trucking along, which is great in many circumstances but means extra responsibility for me as a rider to make sure that he is truly fit and well prepared to do what I ask of him.

I bib clipped him this year (he was not my primary hunt horse, but rather filled in as necessary this past season), but next year he will be my main horse for whipping in and the plan is to start with a trace clip and probably step up to a full body clip at some point as he does sweat quite profusely when working hard no matter how fit he is!
