I’ve been tracked by a cat while riding in the woods. We were on the lower trail and it stayed above. Scared the bejesus out of me. I was afraid it would leap down on us. Not sure if it was hungry, curious, or what. They are big, don’t under estimate the strength of a cougar.
We bought our current house as a foreclosure about 5 yrs ago. The house had been empty for almost a year and it was a disaster (which is another story). However a large bob cat took up residency in the driveway by the garage while the house was empty for so long - and watched us come and go from the house. It was fairly disconcerting for the first month, but we got used to each other.
If we got too close (walking to the car for example) it would make this loud rumbling sound, raise its head and just stare at us. Eventually, it moved up the hill and we could see it under the trees looking down at the house. We have dogs, cats and horses, so we made sure to keep track of where the cats, and dogs were…the horses were in a field together and that was never an issue. However, it I needed to get to the car or go into the garage to get something, that big ol cat would raise its head, watch me and make that lout rumbling sound. Wont forget that one for a while!
