Mules anyone?

Hey all! I too have an eventing mule that I have been competing locally for a number of years (@muleatahorseshow). I adore him and wish that he were more accepted in the horse world.

Not sure if you have heard of him, but Wallace the UK Dressage Mule is back in the headlines as his rider created a petition to allow FEI to continue permitting mules to show. Would you all sign and share to help encourage the FEI to allow mules?

Not a mule owner myself, but when I went horsecamping at Brown County, 7 of 9 riders in my group of friends were on mules.

Another friend - in her late 70s - has done the MI Coast to Coast ride on her mule.
She recently retired that one & got another to ride trails.

Presently, I am coveting the pony mule a neighbor got this Spring. All of maybe 10H & cute as heck.
Each time I visit his barn I bring her a treat & sloooowly she is starting to recognize that & will approach. No handfeeding, but she does permit me to drop a treat in her feedtub & watch as she enjoys it.
My Secret Plan is to get her broke to drive.
Neighbor drives Road & Pleasure Hackney Ponies, so she is not of his World.
Leaving me to drive her

I just attended Mule Days in BIshop, CA over Memorial Day. Over 700 mules in all disciplines. When you saw the occassional horse, they definitely looked like “short ears.”

I have a Hancock bred horse, relatively new to me, but boy, he sure has mule-like personality. Smart, stubborn, and don’t pick a fight with him. Attending Mule Days actually made our relationship better. He might have to do for now, lol, but I hope for a mule in the future.

One thing I can say, the variety of events was amazing, as were the mule conformations. And MULE OWNERS are fun. Such a cheerful group, even when their mule would not cooperate.

I am sorry I have not responded. I got back on tonight to unsubscribe because of the rudness and snobery I have encountered on other discussions. I have not yet been able to figure it out. My horse girl daughter told me not to waste my time with crazy horse women. (Love my mules).
Will be attending Ty Evans clinic in Fort Valley, VA the first weekend in Oct. Still not able to ride due to a fractured back and pelvis but I will be there if anyone is interested.
I was accused of being a fake and a troll, well show up at the clinic if you think that. I will buy you a beer afterwards. No hard feelings will be. Mula

Check out last year’s clinics. Love that song “Sell Me a Pony”. Fort Valley, VA. I saw it all. Ha, ha! My mule wasn’t the outlaw last year! So dang cute! Got to love those long ears. https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-adk-adk_sbnt&hsimp=yhs-adk_sbnt&hspart=adk&p=ts+mules+clinic+2018#id=28&vid=3a0ec53dcce729e4ddd0a44ccb623407&action=view Mula

For context, Mula started a thread questioning Stormy Daniels’ lifestyle choices in the eventing forum back in July. In Mula’s defense, she probably didn’t realize that Stormy herself was active on COTH prior to all the press she began receiving, and therefore has a lot of “friends” who weren’t going to stand for a new poster insinuating Stormy’s life choices were wrong or shameful. I don’t know if Mula intended to come across as so judgmental, but that is indeed how she came across. Then she became defensive when called out, which only made the situation worse. Now she’s dredging up the thread after months of inactivity. See for yourself:

She’s resurrected both this thread and the Stormy thread she started to alert us that she’s leaving the boards.

I don’t think you have to be one of Stormy’s “friends” on the net to feel that career shaming is not cool. I would think Mula’s thinly veiled “she could have been such a nice girl if only” BS wouldn’t fly with any of us whether she was a member here or not. But yeah, go ahead and flounce.

Too bad, but it’s Mula’s loss. This seemed to be a good thread about mules.

What is “sundowning”?

I wonder if the OP just wants a formal farewell? if so, here it is; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D6xSDffm6c

@Laurierace Oh, I agree that you don’t need to be an internet “friend” to be put off by the level of shaming in Mula’s posts.

But I also don’t think Mula had any clue that she was posting on an overwhelmingly “Pro Stormy” group with a history of supporting her on all levels. I am sure Mula thought she was just posting a fair game question about a celebrity. And I do believe the fact that most of COTH knows Stormy’s story and views it as “old news” led to less patience with Mula’s question than posters may have otherwise had if it had been the first time the subject had been brought up. That’s all I’m saying.

Tickled me pink! (And I’ve been needing a laugh :)) I was guessing at the operatic “Time to Say Goodbye” - just the incongruity of this clip vs my ‘expectation’

I’m glad you liked it. I was wondering if anyone had listened to it.

It’s a good farewell song for someone who is leaving in anger for no discernible reason, don’t you think?

I’ve always found it (the song that I linked to) to be a modern example of the sublime being one step from the ridiculous, and thus, appropriate in this situation

Ah, well, nobody’s perfect. Not even Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Agreed on all accounts @skydy ! If only, though, I didn’t now have “Doe - a deer, a female deer” on loop in (my obviously too idle) brain!

Try switching to Edelweiss!
