So sorry to hear about your coonhound. I hope you make lots more good memories while she is here. Hugs to you all.
She’s gone, Yesterday AM she was still romping around teh hard, but last night she was really moving slow, and while she ate, she looked bad, so I gave her a pain pill. This morning she turned down dinner, and was walking really slow. By this afternoon she could hardly stand, and we were having to squirt water in her mouth. She acted confused, and eventually was having labored breathing. My vet came over this evening - God bless her - and first sedated her, and then put her down, right in the front yard, where Haley had been laying. Her best friend Josie, is normally pretty wild, but as Haley drifted off, Josie sat right beside her, quietly licking my hand. I will never forget that. Haley was an awesome dog, but I am so glad she never really suffered long. My son is taking it pretty hard, but I know we made the right decision.

hugs I’m really sorry for your loss Freebird. I just stumbled on your thread - what a gorgeous dog! Losing them is always hard but I am sure your time with her was well worth it. Take heart in the fact you did your best by her and that (I’m sure!) she led a great life. They never live long enough though!!! Huge hugs though and take care.

Just wanted to say how sorry I am about your loss. Like losing a child isn’t it?
Thanks. We got her a grave marker, took lots of pictures the day before, and while we waited for the vet, we snipped some of her hair - though I have no idea what to do with it now. My husband even got her a Racoon doggy toy, which we buried with her. I just feel bad for my Beagle, Josie, who is still moping around.
