Navy Helmets - Acceptable to show in?

The best wisdom I heard … and pretty much believe … is your attire so different that it detracts from your riding? If the answer is yes then you probably shouldn’t wear it in the Hunter ring … unless you are THAT good (or everyone else is THAT bad)

I was expecting full grain navy leather. That sounded pretty. These are suede-looking?[/QUOTE]

Not really suede looking, Roeckl’s Chester glove is a synthetic material. They have great feel though. I agree full grain navy leather would be awesome.

the navy Charles Owens seem to be pretty well accepted, but based on the pic you linked, they may be darker. I bought my daughter a CO GR8 in midnight and it is truly almost black. Unless I told you it was blue, probably no one would notice.

This is the first time we used it a few weeks ago at a local show. I truly don’t think anyone noticed. I did ask my trainer however and got their buy in first.

Mayaty, your daughter is adorable and that is the exact helmet I wanted! I’ll admit that if my trainer hadn’t been so, “Well…it’s your life I guess…” about it I would have ignored the haters and gotten it.

Do it! I am pro navy helmet!

I recall a few people having grey, brown, or navy velvet helmets when the CO hampton was the helmet to have. I don’t like the brown or grey. But the dark navy is smashing.

I LOVE NAVY.

I also have a Speed Air and a CO and a Samshield…

And I’m and equal opportunity loser. I lose just as easily in the Speed Air as I do in my Navy GPA.

If the most distracting thing in my round is my navy helmet, then hot damn, I’ve reached just about every goal I’ve ever set for myself and my horses.

AHH FATAPPY I show there!

mvp, Roeckl Chester gloves are da bomb. Seriously try them. You know what a leather snob I am and I will not wear anything else. However, if you must have leather, I believe that the new Samshield gloves, which I saw in navy at the GDF in Wellington a few weeks ago, are at least partially made of lambskin.

Navy helmets have been fine in the hunters for quite a while now. If you message Ponymom64 she could probably post pics of her daughter wearing a navy helmet (and looking smashing) in the junior hunters from a couple hers ago - and she ribboned at Jr. Hunter Finals - so definitely fine even at the bigger, more competitive shows.

And you haven’t been distracted by my navy helmet plodding around in the north ring?

Not at all! At least, it hasn’t been called to my attention. Don’t worry, we can plod around together now, though thank god I’ve pulled myself out of the north ring. That ring has been the bane of my existence for a while now.
