Need Cool Hot Weather Clothes

I’m in Phoenix. Kerrits Ice Fil shirts. Nothing else is cool enough. To quote a local tack shop owner: “Better than shade”. The other shirts are cuter, but too hot. Lots of riders in this area love the Ice Fil tights. I don’t: I prefer the FlowRise (also Kerrits).

Another Kerrits IceFil fan here - as long as there is a breeze. I’m fair skinned and blue-eyed, so I need to stay covered up as much as possible. I can’t wear linen - it gives me a rash, and I’ve never found it cool. I’m large-chested and old enough that my D or DD breasts stick to my torso without a bra - ewwww.

I’m using my leather Ariat Terrain H2O lace-ups, but they used to make a mesh version that was much cooler.

On the other side of weather - we’ve had 4 inches of rain since Saturday, including nearly 2 inches yesterday afternoon, while I was volunteering at a schooling horse trials. I stayed completely dry, except for my forearms, in the Ariat boots, LL Bean rain pants over IceFil breeches, and an Eddie Bauer Rainfoil utility jacket over an IceFil shirt. Forearms were my fault for not velcroing the wrists of the jacket. The jacket was brand new, so I had a backup coat, the dressier Eddie Bauer Girl on the Go coat, but didn’t need it.

(almost everything at Eddie Bauer is 50% off through tomorrow, if you’re interested. I used to get more clothing from then when they made actual office wear… Sadly miss their tailored 3 season dress pants, which were my go-to work pants for 15 years.)

I use these sleeves with t-shirts. Keeps sun and bugs away and they are not hot at all.https://farmersdefense.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=13544260550&utm_content=124082320695&utm_term=farmers%20defense%20sleeves&gadid=528023433792&gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwb6lBhBJEiwAbuVUSlphSlpc-suSFs3tk8UIORc4y9rt_vN8dJPVDTJ3eX45QSsAIHBnMBoC0bUQAvD_BwE

I live near a Columbia outlet and got a bunch of Omni-Freeze Zero fabric shirts that I wear while riding in the summer. I wear the long sleeve ones, but they make short sleeve, sleeveless, button up, shorts, hats, even dresses.

I think they technically discontinued “Omni-Freeze Zero” because on their website, now it’s called “Alpine Chill Zero.” I don’t know if it works as well. But I think you can still buy the Omni-Freeze stuff through other vendors.

I have one of those cooling neck towel things I bought after recommendations here. It does help in the worst of the heat. I haven’t used it lately but lived in it a couple summers ago when it was particularly hot.

I live in a desert climate, and evaporative cooling vests work well here. I tried several that contained water absorbing polymer crystals. Those worked for about an hour for me and then just felt heavy and warm. And preventing the build-up of stink is problematic.

I finally sewed a zip-front vest out of a thick towel. I soak it from shoulders to waist in cold water, wring it out, and put it on. It cools me for about an hour, at which point I soak it again. Bonus points that I can toss it in the wash, and it smells fine again. Even hanging a wet hand towel around my neck helps keep me cool.
