Need help. First time dressage competition!

Fortunately, there are a number of options that don’t induce heat stroke. I have several AA Motionlite mesh coats which honestly keep me cooler by inducing air movement. The photo was a of a high-90s heat index day and I was no hotter with the coat on than I was standing around with no coat. To each their own, I was only trying to share my experience as a Hunter who believes in effective cross-training and is blessed that my dressage trainer (“S” judge, “L” faculty, USDF Gold medal) is supportive and understanding of my minor foibles when it comes to turnout.

Wear your coat. No one is telling you that you have to take it off.

And you won’t be the only one who hates and refuses to wear really stiff dressage boots. I also refuse to wear really tight boots.

Roached manes are also good for horses with very thin or rubbed out manes. One of mine consistently rubs out the lower half of his mane and the top half is straggly. I give him a short Mohawk and it looks both fun and nice. He does have a gorgeous neck so there’s that.

I roached my gelding’s mane this summer because I just don’t like his mane. It’s thin and has a weird wave to it. I LOVE it roached! I will never go back. Even if I show in the hunters.

For years I rode in paddock boots without half chaps. If nothing else they are much cooler in the miserable VA summers.

My Der daus sit unbroken in up in my closet.
