Except, thankfully, HITS sold the show series and has left the building. The new owners have made a ton of improvements to the facility. The facility is now known as Desert International Horse Park. https://deserthorsepark.com/

Thatā€™s IOC rule 40. Within a certain period of the Olympics, athletes cannot promote any sponsors except for Olympic Sponsors. Rule 40 is clearly less about the purity of the games and more about the protection of a revenue stream.

Thanks everyone! One more question! This is Hunter related. Would a young adult amateur (like 21 years old in college) be able to compete on someone elseā€™s horse in amateur classes? Or does he/she have to own the horse themselves? Or their parents I guess. Could the horse (if so) be owned in a partnership? Thanks!!

I think you can ride a leased horse in AA or Open, but not in Amatuer Owner. AA generally does not go above a certain height so that leaves only two options.

The amateur rider cannot be paid to ride.

Scroll down to the bottom of page 18 for the start of the AO hunter rule (HU 137). It continues on the next page with the AA rule immediately following.
