Not to mention all the birds and other foragers that could spread it from that location. I agree, it’s messy. Here they have done some trapping and testing but no concentrated shooting like that. Here it’s just been testing of the deer that were shot during the season.
About the acclimating to gun shots. I took a young horse to a “horse affair” type of event and our group was after the demo on mounted shooting so we were all with our horses in hand waiting for it to be over. I was right outside the arena when the shooting started and after an initial startle, she settled quickly and was interested in watching the goings on. Meanwhile a “natural horseman” trainer was set to go in and his horse was having conniptions meanwhile Thistle was totally relaxed watching the shooting.
