Just an update - I finally got my Scat Mat on Saturday. I laid it down to see how it would fit, and it blew right away from the door. Turns out there’s an AC vent right next to the door in both the living room (where it would be located) and my bedroom, which causes air to go under the door and blow the Scat Mat around. GRRRRRR! I was trying to figure out a way to weight it down, but didn’t want to interfere with how the Scat Mat worked, so have done nothing. On a good note, Kitty hasn’t been so desperate to get inside the bedroom lately. Any suggestions on weighing down the Scat Mat safely and un-interferingly?
Is it on carpet or hard floor? If the latter, maybe some double-sided tape on the bottom?
Mine are trained from kittenhood that it is a VERY bad idea to wake Momma up. Extremely scary things happen. They will sleep quietly on the bed until I wake up on my own. Good luck with your scat mat.

Both! Carpet in the bedroom, ceramic tile in the living room/entry way/whatever it’s called. It would be sitting on the tile. I also would move it when I wasn’t in bed for the night, so I’d be going through a lot of tape! Good idea, though!

I’ve tried that - sneaking up to the door and banging it while yelling! Scares her away for a minute, then back at it! What scary things happen at your house? Maybe I can borrow some!
We had to confine our female DSH to a spare room at night because her 3 a.m. zoomies entailed knocking lamps over and pushing things off the counters. As you might imagine, this new setup (upstairs, and our master bedroom was downstairs) did not meet with her approval. Much yowling and carpet-picking ensued.
I got a squirt bottle for the yowling (the addition of the world’s largest cat tree helped too), and there was enough clearance under the bedroom door to put a cheap rubber-backed entry mat. She picked at that some, but the industrial-weave carpeting wasn’t nearly as much fun as the shaggier carpeting we had, so that saved the carpeting.
I think I paid about $12 for that mat from Lowe’s. It was too heavy for her 10-pound self to move, though she tried most nights, and the rubber backing kept it from sliding.
Freaking cats.
