Need training ideas

Good groundwork is invaluable. Clicker training can be helpful to teach you both boundaries, because is she perceives you as being unfair than perhaps you were being a bit of a bully. Some horses can take being pushed around and others do not.

I second the views for Warrick Schiller and for clicker training.

This woman even uses clicker training with her rescue parrots. https://youtube.com/shorts/_WbQmK86ud8?si=Ic-xzlhxqkFjBOQp

I second this.

In what context does this generally occur?

What constitutes “unfair?”

How does she fight back?

Asking as someone who was the unwitting victim of a horse that was never taught proper ground manners, or that people are to be obeyed at all times. My shoulder never healed right.

You might find watching some of the videos posted by Ryan Rose worthwhile. He works a lot with horses that have holes in their training, and typically he takes them back to groundwork. The focus is on building a connection to the human and respect. He is a western rider, but he’s also worked with warmbloods and dressage riders as well.

He has a Patreon page, but a lot of his videos are available to watch for free on Youtube (no login required).

I agree with those who say there are some red flags here that indicate a lack of basic ground training. Can you seek out a trainer in your area who is very good at basic handling?

Clicker training has its place, but with a timid handler and a horse that has already learned to take advantage, it is a recipe for disaster. I absolutely do not recommend it for the OP.
