Is it possible that gwn is one of TropicalStorm’s crazy neighbors? If so I’m impressed - didn’t think they had the mental capacity to figure out the internet. On the other hand…maybe that means they have the capacity to figure out an electric fence?

You go to the individuals profile and there in the blue strip is the question do you want to put member on Ignore list you click yes and confirm and voila, the posts are gone…you can still read them, if you are, like me, nosey :winkgrin: and you can remove someone from it any time, in your own prifile…

Home -owners Associations (HOAs) rarely work. They’re usually not enforced or if they are, it’s not enforced consistently.
For the dog problem, you could try calling Animal Control. Most areas have leash laws for dogs.
Overall though you need to accept the situation. Every neighborhood has one inconsiderate PITA neighbor… you just got unlucky and ended up next to him.
You can’t control what he does but you can control what happens within your own yard. If you don’t like the dog, you can either put up mesh fencing or ignore him until one of the horses kicks him. Cover your own butt from lawsuit by putting everything in writing. Next time there is a problem with their dog or some other dangerous situation, send them a written note certified mail - return reciept. This way you can prove you’ve been trying to warn them.
I used to get upset about my neighbor. Then I planted a hedgerow. It bugged the heck out of them they couldn’t see into my yard, but they’ve really left me alone now. Their yappy little dog still wanders onto my property but it happens far less… guess they don’t like it when Yappy vanished from view into my hedgerow and they don’t know what evil things I might do to Yappy.

Sounds like you REALLY have gotten off on the wrong foot w/the neighbors. You are the newbies, right? On not such a large acreage, pretty close to the neighbors. Nothing like threatening lawsuits, etc the moment you arrive in town. Not saying you aren’t justified to think that way, but perhaps you were hasty to express yourself on very little evidence (kids say stupid things) that any of it might come true. As for the dog, horses have a way of teaching dogs to keep their distance. Well, the tone for your relationship has now been set; too bad it’s not a pleasant one, doesn’t bode well for the future.
JustJump - the parents sounded pretty nutty, wasn’t just the kids. This sounded like a nightmare come true for the OP.

Unfortunately though, if you had read my previous post on it, this was not a one time event. Newbie or not to the neighborhood, that doesn’t give them the right to trespass.
Anyways, hopefully things are now resolved. The kids (maybe it was the diarrhea curse!?) have remained blessedly MIA and the dog, now restrained doesnt’ even bark at the horses since hes been stepped on
They definitely do, but it really stinks when you are basically forced to put one up (PAY big $$$) to keep people/animals off your own property. :no:
I would say that loosing some space for the double fence would be worth it!!!

Continue to document everything. Take it not only to the
home owners assoc. but to the sherrifs dept along with a letter stating
you are not responsible for any injury incurred to theese people on YOUR
property that you have the property posted and have had a few
not so nice encounters with theese people whom think your property
is theirs. I would then find out what the laws are in your area for dogs.
In the county I live in we have a leash law. dogs can run loose on a farm
as long as they are a herding dog and are trainned to herd in the aide
of farmers. they can run loose as long as they are fenced in a yard
other than that they have to be tied or leashed. I had an incident
years ago out riding with my neighbor when we rode past a house
that we had rots as we were riding by the renter of the house was in
the yard his rot ran onto the gravel road and nipped at my horses back
leg the dog was promptly kicked and took off howling the owner
threatned to shoot me off my horse I said to him he had better hope
that dog did not break the skin on my horse and if he did he wouldn’t
have to worry about it doing it again cause I will shoot the darn thing
myself, I did not get off to check my horse out at that moment we continued
the mile to my home i checked my horse he was fine. I called our
sherriff and stopped in his office the next morning. I also found out
whom owned the house and called the property owner and politely
explained what had happened and that there are leash laws in our
county and that if it happened again I would not only go after
the renter but also him and that the renter had said to us we had
to call and get permission to ride by his house. I explained to
the property owner that his renter does not OWN the darn road.
we rode by a couple days later and there was a nice new kennel
up with the rot inside never had a problem after that. renters have
since moved. I would just do some homework get your ducks in a row
so to speak wich will give you the fire power you need to move in
the right direction if anything should happen in the future.
Don’t actually do anything to harm the dog, that would be sad no matter how much you hate it. A low cal paintball gun would work fine, trust me.
As for keeping kids out… take a pice of hotwire, and put it about 3 inches off the ground under a piece of fence they need to crawl under to get to the horses by…
