Neutering a cat that isn’t technically yours

Batcoach, you are so talented at capturing their personalities on film. Have you considered offering your services to the rescue? Good photos certainly help promote adoptions.

Who knew it would be Marlow that was hard to kick out of the nest? Lol

I’m sure little Buzz will catch up to his siblings soon. It takes some a lot longer than others to really enjoy food sometimes.

They’re all precious and getting so big!!

Cute little Chester. I’m glad he’s sticking around, he’s definitely safer not roaming too far.

I’d hate to be the owner the kitty didn’t want to go back to. Shows how little care he was getting before. I hope she doesn’t get more.

Ha! That crazy lady comes calling down the road every once in a while and Chester runs straight up the nearest oak tree like a psycho squirrel and hides. She’s a loon. But cats should be natural @rubygirl1968…. Intact not vaccinated no flea prevention…. / sarcasm. Sadly I’m sure she will get another. And I will just mop up that mess too. Like what was said upthread oodles of posts ago by a very wise poster …. Cats upgrade themselves.

Some people!! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I love that he has his own little house now! He hit the jackpot when he showed up on your porch

Thanks ! Crazy thing is he’s now besties with the other neighborhood neutered male. I mean he’s actually kind to him. And these two used to fight like gladiators! Testicles make boys cuckoo.

Thanks! Its just an iphone and lots of time and plenty of deleted shots of blurry kitten zooms. Also blessed to have great lighting in the living room during the day. I’ve offered to help w/ the rescue’s instagram account since its currently an under-utilized resource. I don’t have the time to go around the county to all the foster homes (there is no centralized brick & mortar location) to take pics, but I can at least help with editing and creating jazzy write-ups!

Guys - I am the worst kitty landlord ever. Both mama cats have decided that they want to be permanent residents of Hotel de la Garage. My multiple eviction attempts are miserable failures as these girls have my number. They know how and when to rush in either entrance, and they know where to ‘hide’ in the garage so I can’t get to them.

Both litters are old enough where they are weaned. They will try to nurse for snacks/comfort, but they certainly do not need their mamas at 9 and 10 weeks old. Mamas only let them nurse for a little bit - then push them away or snap at them. Daisy has perfected the art of escaping the playpen to avoid her kids. So I’m pretty confident she is coming back to the garage for safety/food, not just to see her babies.

we are going on vacation soon, both litters are going to ‘vacay’ foster homes and they will be getting their surgeries either during that time or shortly thereafter (depends on vet wait lists). So there will be zero food or babies in the garage for at least 7 days. Hotel de la Garage needs to be empty.

Both mamas are fixed and vaxed and ear tipped. As much as I would love to see if Daisy (the more tame one) could be adoptable, I don’t have the space to get her used to being a house-cat. No one in the rescue group does either since we are all up to our eyeballs in kittens and trying to get them adopted.

On top of it all, my best kitty friend of over 13 years has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Artie is my heart kitty and he has not been able to keep food or water or meds down since Sunday. Sub-cutaneous liquids and anti- nausea pills have not helped at all. Bloodworks & urinalysis are inconclusive. He goes in today for an ultrasound. He is miserable, not grooming himself, throwing up bile and water multiple times a day. I’m prepared to have to put him down depending on what ultrasound shows. I can’t let him live like this. It all just happened so suddenly. Its a lot.

So sorry about Artie, Batcoach. Can’t blame the mom cats for wanting to live with you!

Can you get a pet sitter ( hopefully free) to come by and leave food in the garage? I know, I am a terrible enabler.

thinking good thoughts for your boy Artie.
Wish you were nearby. We’d take a couple of kittens…

ugh, its been a rough few days. We had to put Artie down Saturday morning. The ultrasound showed swollen intestines and pancreas, but no real smoking gun. He didn’t improve with antibiotics or steroids and I could tell he was in pain. We took him home for one last night hoping a different dose of steroids might help, but still no change. This was the first pet I had to euthanize and it was the right choice, but still hard to go through. I miss my friend.

As the cherry on top, my brother in law (with whom we own equal share in our house) has decided that he wants all the foster kitties gone. He is “tired” of the strays hanging around our house, and wants the mama cats and kittens out. Let me tell you how well I responded to that extremely poorly timed announcement.

I know this fostering journey has lasted longer than we thought it would. We were initially told it would only be 5 weeks and now we know that we are responsible for kittens until they are adopted. I have put lots of time, love, and no small amount of my own money into these 8 little monsters and I will see them through to their forever homes. I can compromise by not feeding the feral kitties in our side yard and not letting the mama kitties back into the garage, but that’s it. 7 of 8 babies are over 2 lbs, so they are on the waitlist for their surgeries.

One litter is already at their vacation foster home, and the other 4 will go to theirs on Wednesday. Then we go on vacation so that is at least a week of no kittens in garage, so I think mama kitties will stop coming by and meowing at the garage door.

I know not everyone is an animal person. Taking in 10 cats to take care of is a lot (on top of the cats we already have) but it is temporary. Even I get overwhelmed by it at times but there is no way I am abandoning these kittens before the job is done.
