Neutering a cat that isn’t technically yours

@BatCoach, wonderful news! They are going to have to a great start to life thanks to you and the other fosters.

You are awesome for taking them in and doing all this. Sounds like a lot of work. I have taken in a bunch of stray cats, but not pregnant mamas (not yet anyway ). Thanks for caring about them and making their lives better.

Feral momma #2 (Marlow) had her babies yesterday. These gals seem to like having their babies during the day while I am gone at the office, rather than the quiet of night. She had 5, but 1 was stillborn :frowning: I’m giving her lots of space since she is quite feral and I want her to relax and just let her babies nurse + snuggle. So far, so good - I will try to weight them tonight (I have a handy extra-long huge wooden spoon for kitten extraction) wish me luck.

Good luck @BatCoach! While she might be feral… I swear I see something else in her eyes. Gratitude! Keep us posted about all the wee ones.

Looks like the same tommy was a very busy boy. Both sets of kittens look very alike. And cute, too.
Love little kittens - you can’t be mad or sad when look at little bitty kitties.

Sweet momma! I’m sorry one was stillborn but mom and the rest of the babies look good!

For a feral, Marlow has a sweet look in her eye.

There were certainly enough suitors fighting for both of the fair ladies’ hands (paws?) but I think this colony has some shared DNA running around. Based on the known toms I have seen catting around/ or trapped and neutered, the ginger, the black and the grey were expected, but the white one was a bit of a happy surprise. I admittedly know very little of cat color genetics, but its always fun when you get a grab-bag of kitty colors.

Heck, for all I know these two gals could be cousins or sisters. I do find it funny that they had their litters within 3 days of each other.

haha I did promise her not to post or share any of the pics of her hissing or ‘airplane ears’ or pulling mean faces in general. She does have gorgeous green eyes and a petite little face.

The white one might be a Meezer! They are born all white.

If he is going to live outdoors, have you considered one of those heating pads meant for feral cats? I have two small dog houses on my patio and front porch equipped with these, and various ferals have lived in them throughout the years. Not all ferals will go inside though but even so I leave food out in below freezing temps and it stays moist. www.cozywinters.com has a big selection. Or if you have a covered porch or other covered area with an outlet, you can just leave the pad there, my ferals and my indoor cats all love them even in the hottest summer months!

haha I had to google Meezer - yes, I actually would not be surprised if the little white kitten had some Siamese blood. 1. There are lots of feral cats with Siamese heritage here on the West Coast 2. He is already the bravest, loudest baby out of both litters. I’ll be keeping an eye on his to see if he starts developing dark points. Here is his one day old pic:

Awwwwww. My all white kitten with blue eyes I adopted from the pound years ago was completely deaf. I didn’t realize it for almost a month.

That is pretty common for all white kittens.

Yes. After researching I saw the % of deafness goes up with the addition of no blue eyes vs one vs two blue eyes.

He’s still here. Not fighting with the neighbor cats at all. And hanging out while I grill. Love him.
