new cat--whats the latest on cat food?
proof? data? studies? or anecdote?

if true this will be problematic for my kitty - we suspect she has allergies to chicken, so where do you go if you can’t feed the two most scrumptious proteins in the world?
Try lotus just juicy pork or weruva glam n punk or steak frites. My picky eaters dive into all 3, no fish, no chicken, no grain.
funny about the poster that said cats don’t naturally eat fish – could you imagine a herd of them taking down buffalo?
HA, right?! The rabbit food makes more sense from a cat perspective, but it’s just gotten impossible to find.

I don’t know if there’s PROOF, per se, but here’s a decent run down of the various issues:

I have a cat allergic to chicken and she’s fed Wild Calling buffalo. She also did great on Hound and Gatos rabbit. I’m thinking of trying her on beef.

Several options out there, but she is kind of pricey to feed!
My hyperthyroid cat is doing well on beef. He’d eat chicken but it’s next to impossible to find canned food with no fish of any sort in it. You really have to read the label because the fish oil is there in the fine print.

My cat’s on Methimazole twice a day and doing great…he’s 18 this year. My vet mentioned that hyperthyroidism in cats is becoming more common because cats today live longer. In the olden days, most cats croaked before their thyroid took off.

Really? Chicken is my go-to easy to deal with food! I admit I’ve never been adamantly against fish oil low on the list, but just checked my three typical cans, and none have fish:

Wild Calling

Hound and Gatos

Newmans Own

There’s also this stuff–I’ve never fed it, but the label isn’t bad, and no fish here, either:

Dave’s Pet Food

Non-chicken proteins are much harder to find, IME, but Wild Calling and Hound and Gatos are good bets!

I’ve purchased Dave’s - the turkey and giblets - it even smells like Thanksgiving.

But, my picky eaters don’t like pate. :frowning:

Nature’s Recipe - wet food.

Chicken & Chicken Liver, no fish in it at all:

Also the Chicken Pate recipe - no fish. Grain free Chicken & Turkey in broth also.

Simkie,

the Wild Calling is a pate? Looks like good food…

Yep, WC is pate. If you’re looking for not pate, this stuff isn’t bad. Or the Weruva chicken. Or even Soulistic?

It’s tough to find many options with texture, though.

 Oh mine won’t touch that stuff. Weruva is the same as BFF, they only like the Tuna & Chicken.

You should see my ‘cat food pantry’ and the list of foods I’ve tried and well… not ordered again…
