New Comfy Fit Harness

Whoo Hoo! I just got mine too! Love it! I am also pretty new to driving, but not to horses. I had to send mine back for the next size up. Now, it’s much better. Love the service. I went through Frontier.

So Much Comfy Fit Love!!!

Me too, Slow Twist! I’ve been riding for a long while, and thought- driving is one of the only things I haven’t taught a horse to do!

So, I’m here now… And it’s really awesome. Plus, the driving horse people are much friendlier than the riding horse people seem to be… !

I have a question for those that have Comfy fits. Do you have the hip straps crossed or parallel? Mine came crossed but I uncrossed them but I’m not sure that’s right.

Mine are crossed. They look better that way, I think.

Comfy Fit in action!

Woohoo! We went out for a drive today! It was great weather, sunny but not hot! We did have to compete with lots of pot holes on the driveway, though.

The new Comfy Fit did great, and my horse seemed very happy. We even trotted! We don’t have very far to drive because we are near a major highway, but we do have a dead end road that’s about 400 meters long, so we go up and down that. We encountered a guy walking and he asked if he could take a photo, said he couldn’t believe such cool things could happen in his “own backyard”! Of course, we obliged (any chance to practice our whoa/stand still, we take).

We ran into one issue, though. The backband of the harness sort of sat right on his spine, like a saddle that is too wide, once it was tightened with the shafts in it. I put a saddle pad under it, and it worked, but I think I will need a harness pad to make the tree a little narrower.
The shafts of the cart sat much more level (big sigh of relief) because the tug loops are further down on this backband. I love the crupper the best, because it is so thin and soft, my horse is much happier with that crupper than the other one.

I also learned that my horse takes great comfort in the whip. He loves being tapped on the side when he is hesitant. It’s almost like a security blanket. He feels the whip, he walks on. He sees something scary, he thinks “Oh, no!” and then he feels the tap and he goes “Ok, she says we’re good, I’ll keep on going”. He enjoys driving so much more than he does being ridden.

And I’m am VERY sorry all, I was too excited to take a photo. I will HAVE to get one next time, as I will be taking my mom and dad for short trips up and down the road. Driving is so much FUN

Driving folk are a special breed of extra-special friendly! Seriously, I’ve never met a more welcoming, helpful and warm group of people.
