New fox hunting hazard
While wearing your hunt helmet, take a careful look in the mirror. If your hair looks electrified and sticking out in interesting ways, you need a way to make it tidy. That may be lots of gel, a hairnet, or another creative method.

Years ago, when I first started hunting, I hosted a Warrenton-Old Dominion joint meet breakfast. I was so new that no one knew who I was. I had my hair cut quite short and glued down. Going into the house for the Breakfast, A cheerful gentleman in scarlet came up behind me. He jovially slapped me on the back and enthusiastically asked,

“Well, son, What did you think of your first hunt with us?”

He was chagrined when I turned towards him, obviously a Sweet Young Thing…
:lol::lol::lol:

Was just thinking of you and wondering how you were. Clearly your sense of humor is intact!

Staying with the hairnet theme…I have a question I’ve been DYING to ask…has ANYONE ever kept the same one so long you felt…like…maybe…you needed to… WASH it?!!
Did you? With what? I mean…they CAN acquire a certain “odor” that requires SOMETHING be done…Yes? :uhoh::dead::uhoh:

AND does anyone else look like Ruth Buzzy when they have theirs on? I do…and if you don’t know who Ruth Buzzy is then go away…

And another profound thought…some hairnets really ARE the “Good Kind” imho!

AND what about those little knotty balls thing that happens at your collar…boy I hate when that happens! Or is that just a pony tail phenomenom? Gah! I hate knotty balls…weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
1. NO ONE except maybe the good Lord above sees me in “just a hairnet”, always my helmet on to cover it up. Love my trailer dressing room!!

 2. Just put used a brand spanking new one this morning. I had no idea how stretched out the old one had become.

Check. Got tidy down.

short hair?!

No hairnet required with short hair but you’ll find a LOT of us hate you people! You never get the dreaded HELMET HEAD! Defined as flattened, mishapen, stuck to your head hair do’s caused by 3 hrs wearing a riding helmet and sweating. It ain’t purty! So you will find us at hunt breakfasts with baseball hats, wool caps, oil cloth hats, ponytails, scarves & wigs on. A hunting princess has to ALWAYS look good ya know. Yous with short hair only need to do a “finger froo froo” and rearrangement of hairs and off ya go!! I hate you!!

Helmet head is a total curse this time of year. And what it does to bangs?!!!?:eek::eek: Makes me wanna faint just thinking about it!

Well in the old days…heard this at a hunt get together last night. Years ago it seems there was a certain member who was meticulous about her hair. She would put bobby pin “pin curls” in her hair before the hunt, wear her cap during the hunt then afterwards remove the pin curls and have fabulous breakfast hair. I said “You ARE kidding, right??” and they said nope, she did it for every hunt. Wateryglenn, we are now expecting PERFECT breakfast hair from you now that you know this!

Also, who wears shirts that require cuff links?? At breakfast yesterday, the local eatery where we go after Wednesday hunts where “pin curled” hair is optional, we were helping one member with her stock tie. Her high collared turtle neck shirt was causing problems. One of our neatest ever members mentioned his hunting shirt he was wearing. Years and years ago he had two shirts custom made, collarless and they required cuff links. (I’m ignoring the fact that I hate an 82 year old man who can still wear shirts made “years and years ago” when I don’t fit into shirts I bought 6 years ago) He rolled up his sleeve to reveal the cuff links. I was gobsmocked and said “You don’t ever wear a turtleneck when it cold and you ALWAYS wear a shirt that needs cuff links??” He smiled, I can’t begin to describe how demur this man is, and said “when I started hunting that is what I was told to wear and I’ve never changed.” He isn’t stodgy, stuffy or anything bad, just correct and doing what he told years and years ago, even before the above mentioned “pin curled” haired gal was on the scene. I love my fox hunting friends!

I still get helmet hair. Plus what about that helmet SMELL??!!??

Just rub some alfalfa in it…
Gives it texture, body, and that expensive fragrance that we all love…

EXCELLENT idea. Thank you, whicker.
