New Half Pad- Ogilvy?
I had an extensive conversation with my saddle fitter the other day, and he was vehemently against the ogilvy pads. Apparently they often cause the saddle to shift around too much on the horse’s back, and are just generally more of a fad and less of an impressive product.
Really? I notice more stability with my Ogilvy than I do with the Lami cells and fleece pads I ride in (that’s all the school horses go in at SCAD, that or Risers). I notice more movement at SCAD than I do on my horses with my ogilvy.

I absolutely love my Ogilvy! It feels so comfortable without bulk under my saddle and the horse doesn’t have any issues with it - pressure is even, it’s cool in his back and doesn’t slip.It might look bulky to start but seems to settle and conform to his back as saddle within minutes of tacking up.

My saddle shifted to the right with my Ogilvy, and I’m a left leaner! Doesn’t do that with my $35 fake fleece pad. You can notice many other saddles/Ogilvy Pads shifting to the right if you look at the pictures close enough…

Interesting! I haven’t had that problem with mine.
They seem to be pretty polar, review wise. People love them and will only use them and people didn’t work well with them!
I’ll have to look at photos and see if I see what you mean

With my new saddle, the Ogilvy makes it feel like I’m sitting on a cloud. I’m contemplating selling my regular for a gummy to see if it works better. I need a significantly bigger girth for it to fit. My saddle fits my mare near perfectly- so its difficult to throw that big cloud under it. I love my equifit half pad- its just black, but hey it does its job

My Ogilvy is cursed. Everytime I show in it, I crash. But playing devil’s advocate- it may also be attributed to the pad. Whenever my mare feels my seat soften before the fence, she stops. Many professionals feel that she possibly cant feel my weight with the thickness of the pad (Which may be exactly what people are looking for!). Showing her in a thinline-- we jump every fence. (*To keep away the neigh-sayers, I bought her because of my extreme need to “fix” things-- there is no medical issue. Ask my vet bills, 75 vet consults, and all the graphs/scans/rays)
