New to trail riding in PA

Boarding “near” Philly

I live in the Manayunk area just outside the city and am looking for a place to board my horse. I did hunter/jumper type riding in college, but no longer have the time, money, or interest. I’m looking for a place with ample turnout, possibly even pasture board although I’d prefer he have a stall. Not looking for any bells or whistles, just quality care and a nice group of people to do some trail riding with. I’m interested in Chester and Bucks county, but Chester county would be more convenient because of my work location. I’m originally from NJ and the horse has been leased out and living in NY since graduation, so I know very, very little about my options. Any help, suggestions, and advice would be welcomed. Thanks!

If you ride @ the York County Parks remember…

there’s an open & close policy on the trails during wet conditions. Please call ahead before trailering to ride, the park rangers will fine horseback & mountain bike riders if they’re using the trails when closed. Please call 717-840-7440. The parks affected by this are Rocky Ridge, William Kain (Lake Redman), and Spring Valley. Rocky Ridge seldom closes due to the terrain there, but Spring Valley & William Kain close often after heavy rains. My husband & I are former Park Ambassadors for the York County Park Systems & would often see people trailer in to use the parks only to find them closed. They also try to enforce the removal of horse manure on the York County Rail trail. Just a heads up  , Lisa
