New trivia- junior hunters of the '80s and '90s

Exactly right. Unfortunately I am two years younger than Liza and got to spend my junior days riding against her and her two brothers. I had a nice horse named Johnny Reb that could beat Game Plan on a good day and often did in the hack, but boy was Game Plan special.

I remember watching Lisa on Black Irish her last junior year. That was an impressive pair too.

That boy from NC rode Axel Foley. I remember him stopping at a showing Asheville and he reared a bit. The boy, what is his name??? Stuck his arm in the air like a rodeo rider and everyone laughted. It might have been the Maclay Regionals?

that’s it! Going Places… thanks!

Georgina also had Rave.

Joe Namath?

We used to compare him to the ever ready bunny. He showed every week, in every division possible. Never took a lame step as far as I knew. At least while the Lloyds had him, which was a long time. He won a lot of hacks and was a real trooper.

Okapi: Ellen Van Dyke’s small junior (she had Talk of the Town in the larges at the same time)

Just Call Me Flash: Bob(by) Kraut, who is now married to Laura Kraut

Centercourt: Ashley Brown’s small junior

also, Classic was first ridden by Elyse Novick when she got him from Canada, after Blue By You passed away

Jockey Club Name: Plain Brown Wrapper
First show name: EQ (which stood for equitation horse on the packing list for Florida )
First trainer to show him at “A” shows: Norman Dello Joio
First “A” Florida Show: South Florida Fair

I do remember Spode, but I don’t remember where he ended up! I’ll have to ask tommorow

That was the first time I saw you on Moment to Moment. Lexington and Derek beat you guys in the hack off right?

AHHHHH YES! Haha he was 2nd in both o/f classes and won the hack. Too bad Mo didn’t grow wings for that hack, but I couldn’t have ever asked for more from that horse.

Seize Her - Alex and Piama Gilbert

Casual Look was definitely at David Wright’s barn although Tony might have had him before that? I think Keri had him in one of his first two years as green though… The only reason I remember this is because I took some lessons with David when I was in college and he told me about the horse. He was a difficult ride but always a good jumper.

David had a knack for finding great horses… if you remember he also found Pappy Clifford and one other who’s name escapes me right now

All this trivia has inspired me to start a topic about junior hunters of the '80s and '90s.

LOL what’s your name? I think I know who you are now. I believe Jean Lass bought him from you and he was like her sacred hunter. I remember I was just getting done with ponies and Jean wanted me to lease Harvard from her because Amanda Gunsch was done with him…but I was like Jean I want to have MO! LOL go figure…so she agreed and I leased him from her for 2 years
