"Nicer" saddles that fit like a Wintec

I just got my A5 back from Tad, who re-puffed the knee flaps. I had been putting it off also, and it did take a while. But he did a beautiful job and it was not as expensive as I thought it would be. Haha, I’m so spoiled by next day deliveries, etc, for non horse stuff, I think that’s why I was putting off sending the saddle. So glad I did, so don’t forget!

Do a search for Intrepid Saddles - I bought one to get me by while my horse went through a lot of body changes and I didn’t want to pull the trigger on a custom just yet. You’ll have to pull that saddle out of my cold dead hands. It’s fit nearly every horse I’ve put it on, rides like a $5k saddle, and the leather quality is better than I could have expected. It has been mistaken for a CWD on many occasions but fits a whole heck of a lot better.

Oh these are interesting! I need to find more info or a shop that carries them and can answer some shape questions

I hate that I love mine so much. I promised myself a custom saddle with all the purple things with bling and generally speaking i do not like brown tack (i’m an eventer and my horse is black) but i cannot and will not let it go under any circumstances.

Look at Jeffries as a saddle brand. I have a Jeffries JMX monoflap jump saddle that worked really well on a horse that also fit a Wintec Pro Jump. The JMX is no longer available but you can find them on the used markets and their newer jumping saddles are also quite nice.

Everyone who has sat in my JMX remarks on the great balance, comfort and quality, including my saddle fitter.

What model do you have? I may have found a retailer that I can ask about these saddles.

I have a pro-trainer event saddle - if you happen to be a 17.5" and you find they make work for you, I just found one at a decent price that has the interchangeable gullet. Mine personally has a fixed tree.

You might want to check Weatherbeeta’s web site, most all of the Collegiate saddles have been recalled. I tried a Crosby dressage saddle, I was beyond disappointed when I took it out of the box, granted it was on sale so maybe a second or third but wow it had some issues; maybe their jumping saddles are better??

Agree to check the Arena since its made by Wintec or look for a used Bates if the fit is good.

I forgot about the Collegiate recall that was just posted, even though I commented on that thread not long ago. :woman_facepalming: Sorry about that! That’s unfortunate to hear about the new Crosbys as well. I always liked the older English-made ones (and the older RD-made Collegiates).
