Its probably a bit more stiff than the cloth backed ones, but probably pretty close. The magic of the pto choice is the rubbery liner- it’s not actually quite neoprene even. It’s also removable and washable - and hoses off perfectly.
Anyone seen one of the new anatomical Pro Choice girth’s up close yet? My horse prefers Pro Choice girths (ventech, regular, and wool) but as he’s grown could use one better shaped for a forward girth groove. They look like they have a hard shell like eQuick? I’m wondering if that is bulky or hard feeling under the leg.
I always show in a leather girth and in the hot summer months I cover it with a very low profile fuzzy cover that is very tight to the girth and more like shammy-cloth material. The cover is easy to clean and low profile in the show ring and protects the horse and the tack. I always though the synthetic girths looked tacky but I am old school
A couple of mine seem to either react or scald under the neoprene girths as well, so I stick to either leather or fleece. So many horses do well with the Pro Choice girths, but I felt awful when I took it off and saw a reaction (almost like heat scald), and am now a bit afraid to use the neoprene style.
I show in leather. I don’t use the fuzzy girths because I have to wash my horse laundry at home so try to minimize what goes into my machine. It’s all leather or neoprene for me, though they seem to get hotter under the neoprene…
