Non-silicone conditioner sprays that still give a good hair feel?

I’m the only person who hates Healthy Hair Care Horse Moisturizer, I guess. I followed the directions on the bottle to the letter and just barely sprayed my horse with it, but it still left an oily residue on him. Since he’s a grey, he immediately went out and rolled, turning himself into a dirt ball.

Since then, I’ve used Vetrolin Shine on him. It helps to keep him clean, I love the smell, and it doesn’t seem to dry out his coat, mane, or tail. YMMV.

Are they the ones that make (made?) the marigold spray? I used to love that stuff, just for the smell!

Yes! All of their products smell divine, and the Marigold spray probably smells the best of them all. I used it last summer quite a bit.
To my knowledge, all of their products are silicone-free too. I love the MicroTek (spray and shampoo) line for my horse’s itchy summer woes, the Premier line (spray, shampoo, and conditioner) for moisturizing coat, mane, and tail, and the MegaTek stuff for improved tail condition and growth. And Marigold spray for a light flyspray/coat conditioner but mostly perfume (lol) in the summer.

I wish it was cheaper, but oh well. It works for my dude.

That stuff smells fantastic. But, IMO, it did nothing for shine or quality of the coat for me.

Thanks to this thread, I tried the Vetrolin shine spray. I like the way it makes the brush slide through, without leaving the greasy or overly slippery feeling. Bonus, I don’t “think” my white horse will turn brown wherever I sprayed it when he rolls. The other products seem to be dirt magnets.

You’re not alone tikihorse2. I tried it years ago and didn’t understand why everybody seemed to like it. It attracted a lot of dust. Maybe I mixed it up wrong? Anyway, we all have different likes and dislikes.

I use the Infusium 23 leave in conditioner diluted. I also like Canter Mane & Tail but only for the mane and tail, not on the body.

Healthy Hair Care smelled nice, I’ll give it that. But I might as well have sprayed my horse with Endust when I used it. He got absolutely filthy.

This may be crazy, but I knew someone who used a non-aerosol olive oil cooking spray.

I use aerosol olive oil, it works great and is dirt cheap

What about non water soluble silicone? As in no added alcohol?
I have a fluffy pony with a long mane and I love Manely Long Hair Detangler. Works great, smells nice and doesn’t leave that Armor-All feeling on my hands.

I’ve used Luster’s Pink Sheen spray from the ethnic hair care aisle. I learned about it here.

I use Dream Coat and Santa Fe exclusively! Non-slip, no silicone, and makes them soft and shiny without stickiness or slipperiness. For manes/tails/coats! Showsheen or Lasersheen is great for manes and tails but don’t put it on their coat.
