Or auditing the clinic if you were concerned your horse couldn’t do all of the exercises he’d be required to do?
Wow. I skimmed through the other two threads that were posted, and . . . wow. It’s been a long time since I face-palmed that much.
They do shed a lot of light on this thread, though.
I feel for the OP. But in twenty years, she hasn’t learned to take the advice of the people on this forum, even after asking for it . . . ?
And if Chase was truly having that many soundness issues 20 years ago, one can only imagine what he might be like today. I hope she and Chase (and the BO) are at peace.
I suspect that the horse may be Resting In Peace.
Sadly, I suspect not (Nope? ).
The Speed of Light 2 Hour window in which ChandaNope allegedly accomplished this is most probably a work of fiction.
Has anyone’s Large Animal vet ever responded that quickly for a non-emergent euth?
ETA:
Friend just had her 30+yo DraftX put down so progressively lame, arthritic mare wouldn’t go through another Winter.
Friend is very much Eyes On, horse is stabled at her own farm.
Vet took a solid week to get to her.
Because, horses who had a future took precedence.
As they should.
You’re right, of course. My suspicions were based on a feeling I got, and more logically related to the BO having taken matters into her own hands than to the OP having actually accomplished this.
Maybe if the horse injured himself, otherwise how would the BO know to have him put down if the OP didn’t contact her?
This is my horse, 17 years old, on the last day of his life.
Fat and happy. The BO had been monitoring his tumors and when he started to exhibit some uncharacteristic behavior changes, the appointment was made within a week. I flew from Buffalo to NJ to be with him on the day, and that was that.
Better to spend a day bathing him, stuffing him with treats, and reading him his fan mail while he grazed under the trees than him having an episode where he was down in a stall, alone, and not found til morning.
Since the horse in this post is 30 years old and she hasn’t seen it in years and the BO is allegedly boarding it at a loss, I wonder if the horse even exists at BOs barn anymore…
I agree, well done by your horse. What a lovely and dignified ending. He was very lucky.
