He’s a touch longer in the pastern than I like, but he appears to have no heel at all, which can definitely exacerbate that. The other thing I noticed is that he wings out just a tad and may be a little pigeon toed, which wouldn’t bother me from a functional standpoint. And as Bluey noted, at his age some of those things sometimes self correct or can be corrected by nutrition, farriery, and appropriate exercise.
Yes, his pasterns are a bit on the long and slopey side. But if I still had the ranch-- which to be clear, I do not-- I would be willing to take a gamble on him because they could be fine with time and care. Plus, I bet he’ll be smooth to ride, even if he’s just a lovely flat horse and trail companion.
Besides, he’s going to end up somewhere, right? Why not with someone right here!
Obligatory enabling effort.
If he was a QH with papers I’d take a chance on him. I love the slow legs on him.
Same! Shayney moves like that. So nice to ride and adjust from.
This is a bit of a sweeping generalization, but I’m guessing most horses that end up at Bowie probably do not get intensive farrier care shortly before they arrive there. So if he moves that well now, imagine what he will look like with a little regular farrier attention. Not to mention some groceries, some wormer, and a little TLC.
I do like the name Slinky for him. Sticking with the classic barn name formula of two syllables with a Y at the end.
His page is gone. Who bought him? Fess up!
Nosey update!
A little fun in the arena today. This was her first time in my ring and it was charming to watch her explore, no fear, just playfully going from one new and interesting object to another. She chased a leaf, knocked over the mounting block with her nose, tasted an artificial flower, and stepped (rather awkwardly) over a raised pole.
She looks huge in these pics so I put a measuring stick on her afterwards and she’s just a hair under 15 hands.

Look at that bloom on her coat! Absolutely gorgeous.
Yes, it continues to amaze how much different she looks from those first pictures from Bowie.
She is beautiful! The difference in her eye alone is amazing. Poor dejected little thing has truly blossomed.
