As far as I know numnahs or any sort of saddle pad was frowned upon in the 60’s. Saddles were cleaned daily. Jockeys (pronounced jaw-key) were really frowned on.

Jockeys are the accumulation of sweat and grease that builds up on stirrup leathers and points were leather touches leather,

In New Zealand numnah is old speak for sheepskin saddle pad/blanket. Haven’t heard that word spoken out loud in many years but every time I see a sheepskin saddle blanket the word pops into my head :smiley:
