They still had them in the 60’s.
You could also order honrybees from Sears.
When I started riding, in the 1960s, the two big riding catalogs were Miller’s and Kaufman’s. We ordered a lot of things from Miller’s, but my first NEW saddle (a Passier All Purpose) came from Kaufman’s.
My first brand new saddle came from Millers. A Crosby Lexington TC. Loved it and wish I still had it.
LOL! I threw a curse over my shoulder as I departed. “A pox upon this place!”
No. It wasn’t their fault. And I’m pretty sure they were destined to come to an end regardless.
Oh yes, I have lots of Dover catalogues too, as well as from many other retailers. I don’t think I ever threw any out!
There is just something about poring over a well-done catalogue that cannot be replicated by a website.
Miller’s, Eiser’s and Kauffman’s were what I grew up with.
I also remember perusing the horse and ponies for sale classified in the Sunday New York Times. (Because my family got the Times delivered, not COTH.)
Forget the barn—that was in my bedroom!
