NYT article on PETA undercover in Asmussen's barn

And the silence from Asmussen is deafening. If I were one of his current owners I’d be disgusted and be done. I don’t care what legal ramifications may be coming, it’s the gentlemanly thing to do (but we know that is missing). Zayet still had his horses with Steve, no return texts or phone calls. The least he owes Zayet is some sort of apology at this point.

Maybe Laurie in the grand scheme of things. But Zayet has had horses with Lukas. Apparently he is someone Zayet can trust to let him know what’s going on.

I assume he apologized like a man ie in person and thanked him for his business in the past and wished him well in the future. But who knows.

Not according to the article, Zayet says: When I was able to get Steve on the phone that afternoon, the first thing that came out of his mouth was that he hadn’t seen the video yet and could not speak on behalf of Scott Blasi. It was mind-boggling to me the reaction. I got nowhere with him, and that’s completely irresponsible and unacceptable to me.

Can someone quote or “PM” me what Blasi said about Zayat? I’m writing an email to a friend quoting the text (sort of a private joke) and don’t want have to watch the video all over again.

I believe he called him a seeyounexttuesday. It was hard to pick out between all the f-bombs.

Yes, he call him the dreaded “c” word. Of course according to Scott that was taken totally out of context, and he was drunk, and under the influence of a woman!

Blasi to Zayat: [B]Mr. Zayat, I want to apologize for my obscene comments and embarrassment to you and your family. They were totally taken out of context in a manipulative situation and I was clearly under the influence of alcohol and a woman. Obviously a weakness on my part. You and your family have been very dear to me and so good to me and my family. Please forgive me. Scott

Guess all men on the backside should be gelded so they won’t be vulnerable to manipulation.

Oh no he didn’t. Seriously? Essentially he’s saying he was drunk and horny. That’s a lame enough excuse for a 19 year old college boy, never mind a professional!

My assessment of the situation is that Steve and Scott both knew that he was incapable (for obvious reasons) to ever step out on his own with a string of horses. At that level, rarely do you see someone with the same assistant for 18 years.

Want to see my pictures I took of Big Brown getting his “fake” feet before the Preakness? .
Yes! I do!

His horrible feet were often mentioned but I never had a look at them. Thanks!

It seems that poor Mr. Zayat is the victim of more than one “liar”…

I don’t find him at all credible. I just don’t.

Zayat owes money everywhere but still gets credit. Personally I don’t mind that he stuck it to 5/3 bank because they are a crooked business.

Yep, let’s pull up something that he did in 2005, betting excessively (which is not a crime), sounds like they had nothing on him, if they did, the least they would have done was investigated. It’s not like he had over 70 infractions/or drug positives at the track. Not sure what this has to do with the video…

Sorry, my computer was having fits and wouldn’t let me straighten out or delete the crooked ones without deleting the whole thing which I did twice. You get the idea!

Big difference on a horse with a quarter crack, and a horse with no bars and no walls IMO. I’ve used glue on shoes with patches for a horse with problems but otherwise sound. Here is a good article explaining why they used this method on BB.

And I have come out of retirement for this… I am gobsmacked that folks are even DEFENDING this and attacking the whistleblower.
Really? I’m not.

Of course there is a difference. She asked to see my pictures so I posted them.

Big Brown isn’t the only horse Dutrow had that used glue on shoes.
