He will lose some true, but he will get some if he keeps winning. Sad but true. Look at Dutrow. The only thing that did Dutrow in is his mouth, he had plenty of owners. He just couldn’t shut up.
I’ve never made it a secret how I feel about ASSmussen. No, I never worked for him, but contrary to what Angelico says, I don’t believe he gives a rat’s a** about what happens to the majority of his horses once they start sliding down the ladder. I personally tried to help 2 different people get bottom level claimers (older geldings) from him before they completely broke down. He wouldn’t even listen to the offers.I’m sure they went to Daddy’s ranch, then across the border.

And if we truly love horses, we all have to step up and be advocates for change, and be ‘animal rights activists’.
Hate PETA? They are the ones exposing some of the wrongs… and yes, they have an agenda.
Don’t like it? Then quit justifying, quit rationalizing and start speaking up and making the changes necessary for the welfare of the horses.
Don’t wait for PETA to do it for you.
Even if we were to come up with a national rule for drugs you’re still going to have people who still use them. There are already fines and penalties in place now, but people don’t care. It’s one more win for them. I say the only way to discourage people from racing drugged, broken down horses is to impose a one strike you’re out law. It will make them think twice about it.
It isn’t a win because you lose the win. No purse plus a fine. I agree that penalties need to be much harsher however.
True but the records still show them win those races. In the steward reports in will say that they’re disqualified for testing positive, but maybe they should start changing the other records too and even the trophies. I feel bad for the owners and jocks when some of these trainers go behind their backs and cheat them of these victories. But if these guys want to play dirty with the horses, maybe it’s time to start playing dirty right back at them.
No they don’t. I know one horse who broke his maiden four times because three times he got a bad test and was a maiden again.
Whole thing kinda makes you wonder what goes on in QH racing, since so many of these guys came from there.
Fred, I couldn’t agree more.
The past performances will show the horse finished 1st but was DQ’d. They can’t change that or the pp’s wouldn’t be accurate. The purses are retracted, so the trainers still lose.
I don’t follow QH racing, but do know that the leading rider was busted with a machine back in the 80’s. I’m sure the same ugliness goes on as in the TB world, if not worse at the bottom levels.

It won’t absolve him completely but since Blasi was the most vocal he had to go. I wonder if having a sexual relationship with the subject is part of every PETA undercover operation of it this one just took the undercover part of her job a little too literally?
Sorry, but IMO Asmussen knew exactly what was going on.
I am convinced he and Blasi worked out a sweet deal for Blasi to take the fall. :nonchalance:

Asmussen also now removed from the Hall of Fame ballot. Not that I’ve ever thought much about the Racing Hall of Fame’s process in the first place.
