OBS Sales/Under Tack Sales

A few things this description neglected to mention:
This filly has won 4 of her 5 lifetime starts, including the G1 Del Mar Oaks and the G2 San Clemente Handicap. Her earnings so far: $381,000. She’s a successful racehorse by any measure.

I don’t have time (or the inclination) to look up every horse on Snaffle’s list, but I suspect this isn’t the only one whose description is misleading.

I think that statement has an odd ring to it. It sounds as if the writer thinks that the horse has been shot and buried on the back forty. I’d bet the owners and trainer have seen the horse since her last race.

“Has no race record available since” would be a less alarmist and more of a natural sentence.

Does anyone have any horse that stands out to you in the sale? I’ve not seen close to all of those cataloged that have photos or videos.

However, I like the Munnings colt out of the Irish mare Responsibleforlove. My favorites (granted, not seen but on the internet) tend to be those TBs that look like I’d loved to have had at home to ride, and they aren’t usually the sale toppers. Not surprising since these are sales of race horses, not sport horses.

actually you are wrong. I filtered sales results by the fastest times and picked from the top down with the exception of some of the higher priced ones/better pedigrees from the batch of the fastest times. I didn’t include all of the fastest times as depending on the sale, there can be quite a few of them.

I also left out anything that sold overseas because their records are harder to verify and time consuming

It doesn’t theoretically matter WHAT she won. We are discussing asking 2 year olds to breeze incredibly fast per the bloodhorse article and what that may lead to down the line. I don’t have the answers to why she had a layoff of 8 months, but could soundness issues in these horses be atributed to being asked of too much far too early. I think we all know the answer to that.

Lol you don’t know what led to a layoff but you’re making claims that the 2 yo in training sale led to the layoff??

ANYTHING could have kept that horse from starting for that time.

The fact that you are against racehorses being given time off from training (unless you approve of the reason) makes zero sense to me. Good racehorse owners give their horses breaks. Soundness doesn’t always have something to do with it.

Especially 2 year olds. They sometimes show their trainers that they need time off to mature mentally or through growth spurts, don’t they?

Curlin x Motivated Seller (Into Mischief) 900K hammer.

How do you figure that? It matters quite a bit.

You manage the career of graded stakes horse quite differently than you manage the career of a lesser horse. I don’t mean in terms of care per se, but in terms where and when you race.

I think you know what you think which is fine but do not include me in your assumption.

How could she have been sold in the past few months? She had to be entered in this sale by February 3rd and she’s not “out”.

The only auction result Bloodhorse has for her is as a yearling, at Keeneland Sept, for $9k.

Thanks Simke. Snaffle’s post made no sense.

Tapit colt o/o Dixieland Band mare 1M.

thought she was entered in one of the digital sales earlier this year/later last year. maybe not.

Dave Portnoy/Barstool Sports bought Hip 6- the Tapit filly for 575,000

I even looked for other foals out of that mare, sold at all, and then for others by Honor Code, sold this year for $4k. Nope, nada.
