Olympic Ahorn x ?

We ourselves are fortunate enough to have one direct Ahorn daughter who is the product of an Olympic Ferro dam. Are there any recognized nicks for Ahorn for the production of high level jumpers? What characteristics does he reliably throw? Is there anything that should be avoided at all cost in a mare whom we would use with Ahorn? We are looking forward to reading insights from fellow breeders of jumpers.

Corland x Ahorn

I have seen Corland crossed on Ahorn many times with much success. My own STER KWPN Corland x Ahorn mare Unusuale is an exceptional jumper and and her production record for producing jumpers is outstanding.

seconded…there is a corland x ahorn doing the yjc finals at the hamptons in a couple of weeks which seems very nice. it was bred locally here by sharon anderson. i trained the mother for a while and she could jump very well.

I must have been unclear in my post. We have Ahorn semen and are inquiring what kind of mares he might be productively used with. We ourselves have the one direct Ahorn daughter out of a Ferro daughter as well as an Ahorn grandaughter out of an Ahorn daughter that is sired by an Ekstein son. I do appreciate the information about the Corland X Ahorn crosses and will certainly consider using him with our Ahorn daughter. However, I am seeking in insights into Ahorn x ? crosses. TIA!

Lee Miller has a Dose of Olympic Ahorn stored here with me. I was under the impression that it was the Only remaing dose in the world. Are we talking about the same Ahorn from VDL? Lee doesn’t seem to know what to do with it, so it just sits here.

Oh, yes, Judy, we are the lucky recipients of a trove of Olympic Ahorn (VDL) doses which we wish to use in the most judicious way possible! This is why we are seeking insights from whomever may have ideas! Quite by chance, we had always sought to acquire mares with Ahorn blood- our Ahme acquired from Michelle Bartlett was purchased in utero specifically because of her Ahorn sire and our grandaughter was also purchased in utero and we had chosen her because of the Ahorn sire of her dam, Harnita. We are thinking of using one of the doses on the daughter of our 2011 grandaughter Cantanita S when she has matured. Now that we have the “goods” itself so to speak we want to use it in the best possible way and so were seeking input from fellow jumper breeders.

Alexandria is actually Corland x Ahorn Z
Although YJC has her information correct in her main entry, they omitted the “Z” in the listing of qualifiers for the finals.
